Kate Hudson gave fans a sneak peek behind the scenes of her hit Netflix series Running Point by sharing new Instagram photos. Captioned “Back on the court April 23rd 🏀”, the post shows Hudson in her Isla Gordon element, offering a glimpse of the energy and excitement heading into season 2.

The series, co-created by Mindy Kaling, follows Hudson as Isla Gordon, a fictional NBA executive who unexpectedly takes over the Los Angeles Waves. The first season ended with Isla leading the team to the playoffs, only to lose in a tense Game 7.

She returned to her office to find her brother Cam, played by Justin Theroux, out of rehab and sitting in her chair, signaling potential power struggles for the new season. “I had so much fun doing this. I just want to keep doing it,” Hudson told Entertainment Tonight, emphasizing her enthusiasm for the show. Kaling added that Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos had been personally messaged about picking up more seasons, joking, “We love making the show, if you want to just pick us up for five more seasons.”

Netflix has confirmed that Running Point season 2 will premiere on April 23, just over a year after the first season launched. The new season will explore Isla’s growing responsibilities as the Waves’ president, her romantic life, and her ongoing battles with Cam, who is quietly maneuvering to regain control of the team.

The official synopsis promises, “Isla Gordon is no longer the surprise choice to lead the Los Angeles Waves, she’s the one everyone is watching. With the franchise finally rebounding after last year’s scandal, Isla is determined to prove she’s not just keeping the seat warm for her brother Cam. As she tries to balance the pressure of running a franchise with her personal life, every decision on and off the court counts.”

Most of the main cast from season 1 will return, including Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman, Uche Agada, and Justin Theroux. Recurring guests Max Greenfield and Jay Ellis are also expected back, meaning viewers can anticipate more romantic drama and sibling rivalry.

New additions to the cast include Ray Romano as Coach Norm Stinson, Jake Picking as Tommy White, Duby Maduegbunam as Benson, and Richa Moorjani as Aruna, alongside Blake Anderson as Cam’s companion Leroy and Aliyah Turner as Zoé Debay. Ken Marino also joins in a comedic role as Al Fleischman.

Running Point has already proven a hit, topping Netflix’s rankings and generating excitement for the second season. Hudson joked about her real-life family joining the show, revealing that her brother Oliver Hudson “would love it” even if it meant playing a small or comedic role.

The BTS snap shared by Kate Hudson not only teases the look and energy of season 2 but reminds fans why the series has been such a fan favorite. With new cast members, deeper storylines, and the mix of sports and family dynamics, the upcoming season promises to keep audiences hooked.
