From Action Star to Family Man: The story of Chuck Norris, His Wife, and His Dogs
Chuck Norris has lived a life full of deep connections to his family and his pets. While he is famous for being a tough fighter on screen, he is known at home for being a devoted family man. He lived in Texas on a ranch with his second wife, Gena, and their six dogs. This pack includes four Golden Retrievers, a Lab, and a Corgi. He cared so much about his dogs that he even started a pet food company called Lone Wolf Ranch Pets to help them live longer.
His first marriage was to his high school sweetheart, Dianne Holechek. They started dating when she was 15 and he was 16. In a 1985 interview, he said, We went together for almost two years, and she was 15 when I started dating her. I was 16 at the time, and then I married her when she was 17. They stayed married for 30 years and had two sons named Mike and Eric.
Mike became a director and actor, while Eric became a professional racer and stuntman. Even though they divorced in 1989, they stayed friends. When Dianne passed away in 2025 after having dementia, Chuck wrote on Facebook, After being married for 30 years, we were able to find a way to remain close friends, and those years of friendship meant the world to me.
He also has a daughter named Dina from an old affair. He did not know about her until she wrote him a letter when she was 26 years old. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he remembered reading her message: It’s from Dina … and she says, ‘I’m your daughter from a past experience,’ and she said, ‘I found out you were my father when I was 16, but my mother said you were married and we shouldn’t interfere with your family.’ When they finally met, he said, we just went into each other’s arms and started crying.
Chuck met his current wife, Gena, in 1997. He wrote in his book that he fell in love with her very quickly after she had a small role on his show. They got married in 1998 and had twins named Dakota and Danilee. Chuck proved his love for Gena when she got very sick in 2013 from a medical scan. He stopped working in Hollywood to take care of her. Gena later said, My wonderful husband was lying on a couch next to me during all this time, and he even read 17 books to me. Today, their children are grown up, with Dakota recently getting married and Danilee getting engaged.
It is very rare to see a famous actor put his career on hold for so many years to care for his wife or stay such close friends with an ex-spouse. Most people only know him for his action movies, but his real life seems to be about loyalty and taking care of the people and animals he loves. It is clear that he treats his family and his dogs with the same high level of respect.
