Long before she was a household name, Margot Robbie almost landed a role in the creepy TV show American Horror Story. Today, everyone knows her as a huge movie star and a two-time Oscar nominee, but back then she was just another actress trying to get a break.

She auditioned for the second season of the show, which was called Asylum, but things didn’t go her way.

Even though she didn’t get the part, the person in charge of casting for the show, Eric Dawson, never forgot her. He spoke to Backstage and said her audition was one of his favorites ever. He mentioned that even before she became famous, she had a special star quality that you just couldn’t ignore.

Margot is probably one of my favourite auditions of all-time, and it was right before she broke out. She was such a star. It was crazy, her star appeal when she walked in the room, Dawson said.

He also explained that once they saw her, they knew she was going to be too big for them to hire for long. He told the story of how as a casting director, you sometimes see someone and realize they are about to become a giant star. That is exactly what happened with Margot, as she went on to star in The Wolf of Wall Street shortly after.

Since then, Margot has become a powerful producer and recently starred in the massive Barbie movie. While making that film, she had one very specific goal. She told Kelly Clarkson that she made a special deal with the director, Greta Gerwig.

I’ll follow your vision. Whatever you want this Barbie movie to be, let’s do that. Except I just have one favour… Please, please, please can we have a Dreamhouse where she has a slide that goes from her bedroom down to her pool, because that is my goal in life, Margot recalled saying.

It seems like things worked out perfectly for her. She missed out on a scary asylum, but she got her dream house with a giant slide instead.
