Bruce Willis’ Mom, 90, Honored by LAPD for Decades of Service to Her “Second Family”
Bruce Willis’ mother, Marlene Willis, has been honored by the Los Angeles Police Department for her decades of volunteer work. At 90 years old, Marlene, known at the station as “Mrs. Willis,” has become a familiar and respected figure at the LAPD’s West LA station, helping officers and staff for more than 20 years.
The Los Angeles Protective League praised her dedication, saying, “At 90 years old, Marlene ‘Mrs. Willis’ (Yes, Bruce’s mom) has quietly become a cornerstone of the LAPD’s West LA station, dedicating more than two decades of volunteer service to supporting officers and staff.”
She spends several days each week assisting with administrative tasks and offering care and support to officers returning from difficult calls. Despite being the mother of a Hollywood icon, she keeps the focus on her work, describing the LAPD as her “second family.”
Former LAPD Chief Michel Moore has recognized Marlene’s efforts, presenting her with the Volunteer of the Year award and a special honor. Moore told NBC Los Angeles, “While I can’t make her a cop, I can at least give her the greatest symbol of what it means to be a cop. And that is a badge of the law center police department.”
He added, “There are people in our lives that, when you cross their path, they leave a lasting impression. You are one that has risen to the top of one of the best impressions. To you and the work you do, we will be forever grateful.”
Marlene Willis keeps her famous family out of the spotlight. She doesn’t discuss her son Bruce Willis, former daughter-in-law Demi Moore, or her granddaughters Rumer, Tallulah, and Scout publicly. However, she reportedly has a screensaver of Bruce Willis on her computer. Moore noted, “She was never one to wear her identity as his mother on her sleeve or even involve him in even passing references of her life, which impressed me.”
Marlene’s quiet dedication and decades of service have left a lasting impact on the LAPD community. Her commitment shows that one can make a meaningful difference without seeking attention, even while being connected to a famous family.
Marlene Willis’ story is inspiring. She proves that dedication and kindness can leave a mark far beyond fame. It’s a reminder that volunteer work and genuine care are just as heroic as any high-profile career. What do you think about her lifelong commitment to the LAPD?
