Jenny McCarthy is weighing in on the bizarre internet speculation that her former partner, Jim Carrey, has been replaced by a body double. The 53-year-old personality addressed the viral conspiracy while attending the iHeartRadio Music Awards last week. McCarthy, who was in a relationship with the comedy legend from 2005 until 2010, was quick to dismiss the claims.

The current judge on The Masked Singer stated she was certain that the man seen at a recent French gala was indeed the real Carrey. Rather than seeing a clone or an imposter, she noted that the actor simply appeared exceptionally radiant.

She reflected on her initial reaction to the footage, remarking, “He looked very happy at that award show. And I was happy for him.” McCarthy explained that the star’s upbeat demeanor was actually the most prominent change she observed.

She told reporters that the shift in his energy was immediate, saying, “That’s the first thing I noticed. I said, ‘Oh wow, Jim looks really happy.’” Her husband, Donnie Wahlberg, was also present and suggested that the public’s fixation on physical appearance often distracts from a person’s actual well-being.

Wahlberg pointed out that society is often too quick to analyze facial structures rather than emotional states. He lamented the fact that fans were so preoccupied with the actor’s aesthetic that they ignored his obvious joy.

He noted that “that’s the part that, sadly, people miss. We’re so obsessed with how he looks that we didn’t consider how happy he looked.” The controversy originally took root during the Cesar Awards, where Carrey was honored with a prestigious lifetime achievement prize.

Because his features seemed different to some viewers, rumors began to circulate that the attendee was an impersonator. The situation was further complicated when a prosthetic artist named Alexis Stone suggested they were responsible for a mask used at the event.

However, event organizers and representatives for the actor have since clarified that the appearance was authentic and planned months in advance. Carrey has been enjoying a significant career resurgence recently, largely due to his fan-favorite role as Dr. Robotnik.

Following the massive success of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in late 2024, it was officially confirmed that he will return for Sonic the Hedgehog 4. The fourth installment of the franchise is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 19, 2027, and will feature the return of Idris Elba and Ben Schwartz.

Outside of his blockbusters, Carrey has been spending more time in France and focusing on his painting and personal projects. McCarthy, meanwhile, continues her long-standing role on The Masked Singer, which is currently airing its newest season on FOX.

Her appearance at the iHeartRadio awards with Wahlberg comes as the couple celebrates over a decade of marriage. They remain one of the most visible pairs in television and frequently support each other’s various media ventures. As for the man of the hour, Carrey seems content to let the work speak for itself while he prepares for his next villainous turn.
