Justin Baldoni Lawsuit Sparks Intense Response From Blake Lively
Blake Lively is standing firm following a significant legal development in her ongoing battle with former co-star and director Justin Baldoni. On Thursday, April 2, a federal judge in New York dismissed 10 of the 13 claims Lively had filed against Baldoni and his production company.
While the ruling removed allegations of sexual harassment and defamation from the upcoming trial, the actress expressed a sense of victory regarding the remaining charges. The It Ends With Us star took to social media to clarify that the core of her legal action remains very much alive.
She emphasized that the primary reason for the lawsuit was to address the professional consequences she faced after requesting a secure working environment. Lively shared her perspective with her followers, writing, “The last thing I wanted in my life was a lawsuit, but I brought this case because of the pervasive RETALIATION I faced, and continue to, for privately and professionally asking for a safe working environment for myself and others.”

The judge’s decision to dismiss the sexual harassment claims was based on a technicality regarding Lively’s employment status as an independent contractor rather than a direct employee.
Despite this, her legal team noted that the ruling still allows a jury to hear evidence regarding a coordinated effort to damage her reputation. Lively appears determined to use the upcoming trial as a platform to discuss digital abuse, stating, “I will never stop doing my part in fighting to expose the systems and people who seek to harm, shame, silence, and retaliate against victims. I know it’s a privilege to be able to stand up. I will not waste it.”
The trial is officially scheduled to begin on May 18 and is expected to be one of the most high-profile Hollywood legal events of the year. While the courtroom drama unfolds, Lively is maintaining a packed professional schedule, having recently signed on to produce and star in the action-romance The Survival List.
In the film, she portrays a reality TV producer who must survive a shipwreck alongside a fraudulent survival expert; casting for her male lead is currently underway. Outside of her acting career, Lively continues to expand her non-alcoholic beverage brand, Betty Buzz.
As she prepares to testify in May, Lively remains focused on her advocacy for safer industry standards and the protection of victims of online harassment.
