A new trailer for Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu has given fans a fresh look at the upcoming big-screen adventure featuring Din Djarin and Grogu. The film continues the story from the Disney+ series The Mandalorian and brings the characters into theaters for the first time.

The trailer, released on Thursday, shows the duo working together again as they take on a mission tied to the New Republic. They are recruited by Colonel Ward, played by Sigourney Weaver, who sends them after Imperial warlords scattered across the galaxy after the fall of the Empire.

The footage also introduces Rotta the Hutt in live-action for the first time. The character, known from The Clone Wars animated film, is voiced by Jeremy Allen White in this new version. The trailer includes action scenes, fast chases, and several light moments with Grogu that fans are expected to recognize from the series.

Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal, also shares a short line in the trailer about his bond with Grogu, saying: “The old protect the young, and then the young protect the old.” The clip continues to highlight the partnership between the two main characters as they move through dangerous missions together.

The film is directed by Jon Favreau, who created The Mandalorian series and has been deeply involved in its storytelling since the beginning. He has also directed episodes across the show’s run. Favreau is producing the film alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce. The executive producers include Karen Gilchrist, John Bartnicki, and Carrie Beck.

Speaking earlier about the project, Favreau said: “I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”

The movie is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on May 22.

The trailer shows a mix of action, familiar characters, and emotional moments that fans of the series will likely enjoy. It also signals a clear step for the franchise as it moves from streaming to a full theatrical release. It will be interesting to see if the film can keep the charm of the series while working on a bigger cinematic scale. What do you think about this move to the big screen for The Mandalorian & Grogu?
