Charles Dance, best known for his role as Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones, is reportedly in talks to join the cast of The Batman Part II. The information comes from Deadline, which says the actor may be stepping into a key new role in the upcoming DC Studios film.

If the deal goes through, Dance would appear alongside Robert Pattinson, who is returning as Batman. The sequel is once again being written and directed by Matt Reeves.

According to the same report, Dance could play Charles Dent, the father of Gotham’s district attorney Harvey Dent. Sebastian Stan is expected to play Harvey Dent in the film. Scarlett Johansson is also linked to the project as Dent’s wife. DC Studios has not confirmed any of the casting reports.

The film is currently planned to begin production in spring 2026. It is scheduled to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. Producers on the project include DC co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, along with Dylan Clark.

The first The Batman, released in 2022, was a major success for Warner Bros. after the pandemic era. It earned around $369 million in the US and about $772 million worldwide. The film helped launch a new version of Gotham focused on a darker and more grounded tone.

The sequel will bring back several familiar faces. Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell are expected to return as Jim Gordon, Alfred Pennyworth, and the Penguin. Barry Keoghan is also expected to return as the Joker.

Reports suggest the new film will focus more on Bruce Wayne’s personal life and identity, while still exploring corruption in Gotham. This continues storylines set up in both The Batman and The Penguin series.

Production has taken longer than expected. The script was only completed in mid-2025 after several delays, as Matt Reeves worked carefully on the story. Filming is now expected to take place in England and Scotland, including Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, Liverpool, and Glasgow.

Charles Dance is widely recognized for playing powerful and strict characters. Apart from Game of Thrones, he recently appeared in projects like Frankenstein directed by Guillermo del Toro and the series The Day of the Jackal on Peacock. His possible role in Gotham would continue that trend of playing strong authority figures.

This casting would fit the tone of the Batman universe quite well. Dance has a strong screen presence and is often used for serious, commanding roles. If confirmed, it could add more weight to the political and family side of the story. What do you think about Charles Dance possibly joining The Batman Part II? Share your thoughts in the comments.
