Netflix has started showing its new live-action take on Scooby-Doo, and the first images of the main cast are now online. The photos were shared through official promotional material and give a first idea of how the team looks in this new version.

The images show the main young cast together in a casual setting. Mckenna Grace is playing Daphne, Maxwell Jenkins is Fred, Abby Ryder Fortson is Velma, and Tanner Buchanan is Shaggy. The pictures do not show costumes, but they do show the group together and hint at how their chemistry might work on screen.

According to Netflix’s TUDUM, the series is set as a prequel. It follows the characters before they become the full Mystery Inc. team. The story takes place during a summer camp, where Shaggy and Daphne first get caught up in a strange case. What starts as a missing dog situation involving a Great Dane quickly turns into something bigger and more mysterious.

As the story continues, Velma joins as the more logical mind of the group, while Fred enters the group as a new face with his own personality. Together, they begin to look into strange events that may or may not have a supernatural side. The idea seems to keep the classic mystery format while adding a slightly darker tone.

There are still some things the production has not confirmed. It is not clear how Scooby-Doo himself will appear in the show or what form he will take. Actor Paul Walter Hauser is also part of the cast, but his role has not been revealed yet. The first episode will be directed by Toby Haynes, who is also serving as an executive producer.

The Scooby-Doo franchise has been around since 1969 and has gone through many versions over the years in both animation and live-action. Netflix has not shared a release date yet, but these early photos show that production is moving forward.

This setup feels like a safe but interesting way to bring Scooby-Doo back. A prequel can work well if the character relationships feel natural and the mystery parts stay fun. The cast also looks strong for a younger version of the team. The biggest question is how they will handle Scooby himself and whether the tone will stay true to the original charm.
