Plaza said, “We almost got married. We drove across the country together, eating a bag of edibles, and we drove to Vegas with a plan to get married and then get divorced right away so we could call each other our ex-wife and ex-husband forever. We thought that would be a really good bit.”

She also added, “I think it was a combination of being too high and paranoid. We got in line at the county office or something, and then everyone started running, and we ran. We bailed.”

Plaza and Cera first met while working on the film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World in 2010. Their on-screen collaboration later turned into a real relationship that lasted around a year and a half before they split.

After their breakup, both moved on with their lives and eventually married other people. Cera is now married and has children. Plaza was previously married to filmmaker Jeff Baena, who passed away in 2025 after they had separated.
