Erin Moriarty Reveals Why She Won’t Watch The Final Season of ‘The Boys’
Erin Moriarty has shared new details about a difficult period in her life while filming the final season of the Prime Video series The Boys. The actress, who plays Starlight, said she was dealing with Graves’ disease during production and it affected her both physically and mentally.
The information comes from an interview Moriarty gave to The Hollywood Reporter on April 23. She explained that the illness made it hard for her to stay fully present while working on set. She described the experience as very challenging and said she often struggled to get through filming days.
Moriarty said she felt disconnected from her character during parts of production. She admitted there were moments when she felt like she was not performing at her usual level and worried about letting the story and fans down. As filming went on, she said she slowly began to feel more like herself again closer to the end of the season.
Graves’ disease is an autoimmune condition that affects the thyroid and can lead to symptoms such as anxiety, sleep problems, weight changes, and fatigue. Moriarty first revealed her diagnosis earlier in 2025 through social media, explaining that she initially thought her symptoms were caused by stress and exhaustion. After starting treatment, she said she began to feel improvement quickly.
In her earlier post, she encouraged people to get checked if something feels wrong with their health. She explained that early testing made a big difference in her recovery and said she wished she had taken action sooner.
During her interview, Moriarty also spoke about how the illness affected her work on The Boys. She said she could not use her condition to shape her character’s emotional journey while filming, because she was focused on simply getting through each day.
She also mentioned that the cast and crew were supportive during production, but said the experience was still difficult and at times frightening for her. Even though she has been a long-time fan of the show, she revealed she will not watch the final season right now.
She explained her decision clearly, saying it is important for her to focus on her mental health at this stage. “it’s really important for me at this moment in time to put my psychological health above all other things” she said.
The final season of The Boys marks the end of the popular superhero series, which has built a large global audience over the years. Moriarty’s comments highlight the personal challenges actors can face while working through serious health conditions behind the scenes.
