Gina Carano is once again linked to the Star Wars, after new comments suggested that talks about her return may not be fully off the table.

Carano has recently been active in interviews while also preparing for a high-profile combat sports event. Beyond that, attention has shifted back to her past role in the Star Wars universe and whether she could return after her exit years ago.

Carano previously played Cara Dune in The Mandalorian. She was removed from the series following public controversy, which later led to a legal dispute with The Walt Disney Company that was eventually settled.

In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Carano spoke about reconnecting with key figures behind the franchise. She said she had a direct conversation with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau.

“I’ve already had a conversation with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau. We got onto a Zoom call. It was really nice. Dave is taking over as CEO of Star Wars. We didn’t miss a beat. Jon Favreau got on Zoom and was really funny. He was like so; where did we leave off?”

Her character was originally expected to remain an important part of the story in the early days of The Mandalorian. Plans even pointed toward a possible spin-off focused on her role, but those plans never moved forward after her exit.

At the moment, the timeline of Star Wars projects is already full. Upcoming releases and shows are in production or completed, leaving little clear space for her character to return in a natural way. That is one of the reasons why the idea of a comeback is still uncertain.

Even with these limitations, the fact that conversations have happened again has sparked debate. Some viewers would welcome her return, while others point to the controversy around her departure and question whether it fits the current direction of the franchise.

For now, nothing official has been announced. The situation remains unclear, and any return would depend on future decisions from Lucasfilm.

This feels like early-stage discussion rather than something concrete. The franchise is already moving in a different direction, so bringing her back would not be simple. Still, entertainment decisions can change quickly when creative teams reconnect. What do you think? Should Gina Carano return to Star Wars, or is it better to leave her character in the past?
