‘Dutton Ranch’ Drops Episode 6 Promo as Beth and Rip Face Their Darkest Hour Yet in South Texas
The ‘Yellowstone’ universe has never been short of drama, betrayal, or bloodshed, but ‘Dutton Ranch’ has been busy proving it can generate all three on its own terms. The series picks up a year after ‘Yellowstone‘ ended, following Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler as they leave their Montana past behind and attempt to build a new life in the fictional South Texas town of Rio Paloma. Along for the ride is their adopted son Carter, played once again by Finn Little, as the family tries to carve out a legacy far removed from everything that defined them.
The reception since the May 15 premiere has been nothing short of extraordinary. The debut racked up 12.9 million views worldwide in its first seven days, setting a record as the biggest original series launch in Paramount+ history. The show also delivered the biggest cable series premiere since 2023, ranking as the number one cable entertainment telecast on premiere day among both adults 18-49 and total viewers. Clearly, audiences were hungry to follow these two characters wherever the story took them.
Now the official promo for Season 1 Episode 6, titled “A Cowboy Saint,” has arrived, offering a first look at what comes next as the series heads into the back half of its nine-episode run. Episode 6 is set to hit Paramount+ on June 12, with the season finale, “El Padrino,” scheduled for July 3. The arrival of the promo comes right after what may have been the season’s most consequential episode to date.
Episode 4 forced Beth and Rip into the heartbreaking position of having to put down their entire herd after the cattle were infected with foot-and-mouth disease, traced back to a bull purchased at auction. Episode 5, “Peaceful Find Peace,” then found Rip pitching himself to rival rancher Beulah Jackson as a replacement foreman for her 10 Petal Ranch, leveraging 25 years of ranch experience as his calling card while Beth worked a different angle entirely. Meanwhile, Carter found himself sitting on a secret that could blow the season wide open, while the question of whether he will find the courage to tell Beth and Rip what he witnessed became one of the most pressing threads heading into the second half.
Kelly Reilly, who also serves as an executive producer on the series, spoke about the core questions driving the season, telling CBR that she and Hauser wanted to explore “who are they now as individuals and as a couple,” adding that “Beth and Rip want some peace, to not have to fight everybody, but the fight finds them.”
The series is set against the backdrop of a 7,000-acre Texas ranch that Beth and Rip have come to cherish, described by Paramount as a testament to the peace they sought, fought for, and nearly died for. The expanded cast includes Annette Bening, Ed Harris, Jai Courtney, Natalie Alyn Lind, Marc Menchaca, Juan Pablo Raba, and J.R. Villarreal, with the season filmed on location in Ferris, Texas.
With that kind of ensemble and a season that has so far refused to give its leads a single clean break, “A Cowboy Saint” promises to keep the pressure on well past its title’s spiritual overtones, and fans already deep in the ‘Dutton Ranch’ story will want to weigh in: do you think Carter will finally tell Beth and Rip the truth in Episode 6, or is he about to make everything considerably worse?
