According to Patterson, Hank’s new position at Strickland Propane will not pull him away from his usual routine with the Alley Guys. The showrunner told ComicBook that fans will not miss out on any of that dynamic, only that Hank now has the added complication of balancing it against his responsibilities at work.
Patterson also revealed that writing on Season 16 has already been completed, and teased that the show has found ways to bring elements of Hank’s work life into the alley itself, without spoiling specifics.
Hulu had already renewed ‘King of the Hill’ for two additional seasons back in October 2025, a 20 episode order that will carry the revival through Season 17. That renewal, combined with the finale’s reveal, gives the writers room to keep building out Hank’s new chapter rather than treating the ownership twist as a one episode gimmick.
Critical reception for the season has been strong, with ‘King of the Hill’ Season 15 holding a 100 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes based on early reviews. A Yardbarker review singled out the finale as the season’s high point, praising its blend of returning characters and the flashback structure, while noting that the device opens the door to more flashback episodes in future seasons.

One notable absence remains Luanne, whose character has not returned to the revival.
