Marvel Studios has spent the better part of two years slowly unveiling one of the most ambitious crossover events in franchise history, and the drip-feed of promotional material shows no signs of slowing down as the film’s release date approaches. Between leaked footage, official teasers, and now comic book tie-in artwork, fans have been piecing together the scope of this project for months.

The film is set to bring together heroes from three distinct corners of the Marvel multiverse, pulling in the mainline Avengers, the newly introduced Fantastic Four, and a returning lineup of X-Men actors from the pre-MCU Fox franchise. Directed by the Russo Brothers, who previously helmed ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ the project has been described by Marvel as the beginning of the final chapter of the Multiverse Saga.

That massive scope was on full display in a newly revealed piece of comic book cover art tied to the film, showcasing an extensive lineup of characters converging in a single explosive image. The new promotional artwork gives fans another detailed look at several key character designs ahead of the film’s release, including a comic-accurate take on Ian McKellen’s Magneto, now sporting the character’s signature red and purple helmet in a larger, more faithful design than his previous film appearances. Robert Downey Jr.’s take on Doctor Doom has remained the clear focal point of nearly every promotional reveal tied to the film, with his design continuing to evolve across multiple pieces of official art. Recent looks at the character have highlighted a costume blending traditional comic book plating with more textured, weathered detailing, including mystic rune etchings that hint at Doom’s magical abilities finally being explored on screen.

Some of the character-focused artwork has also included small but telling details, such as trophy-like engravings on Doom’s cloak clasps that fans have speculated could represent defeated multiversal variants of other major heroes. Whether those theories hold up once the film releases remains to be seen, but they’ve certainly added fuel to ongoing fan speculation about just how dark and consequential this particular villain’s arc will be.
