‘Lupin’ Season 4 First Look Shows Assane Diop Behind Bars

Assane Diop is finally facing the consequences of his life as a gentleman thief. Netflix has released the first look at Lupin Part 4, and the new images show Omar Sy’s character in a very different situation from the one fans are used to seeing. After spending three parts staying one step ahead of the police, Assane is now behind bars, and it looks like prison will be a major part of his next adventure.

The new season continues directly from the ending of Part 3. Assane made a huge decision at the end of the previous chapter when he surrendered himself to the authorities. He did not do it because he had given up. Instead, he wanted to protect the people closest to him, including his wife, his son, his mother, and his best friend. For someone who has spent so much time escaping the law, willingly walking into prison was a major change.

Netflix’s new first-look photos give fans a better idea of what is coming, although the streaming service is still keeping most of the story secret. One image shows a person sitting inside what appears to be a glass cell, surrounded by a dark industrial setting. Another shows two people moving carefully through an elegant hallway while carrying a gun. The images suggest that prison will not stop the mystery and action that fans expect from the series.

The new season also appears to keep the show’s love of stylish locations and big visual moments. One of the released photos shows a worker standing beneath the Eiffel Tower at night, while another shows Assane sitting inside a car and smiling. Even though he is supposed to be locked away, the images make it clear that his story is far from over.

Part 4 will also be bigger than the previous season. According to Netflix, the new chapter will have eight episodes, with each episode running for around 45 minutes. That makes it the longest season of the series so far. Part 3 had seven episodes, so fans will get another full episode of Assane’s latest story this time around.

Omar Sy will once again lead the cast as Assane. Ludivine Sagnier, Antoine Gouy, Soufiane Guerrab, and Shirine Boutella are also returning. The season will introduce new characters played by Théo Christine and Laïka Blanc-Francard, adding even more people to Assane’s already complicated world.

Sy is also continuing to play an important role behind the scenes. He works as a showrunner alongside director Louis Leterrier, giving him a close connection to the character and the direction of the series. In an interview with Netflix Tudum, Sy explained why he continues to enjoy playing Assane after all these years.

“I often say that Lupin is an extraordinary plaything,” Sy told Tudum. He also said that he finds “great joy in it every time” he returns to the character.

That enthusiasm is easy to understand. Lupin has become one of Netflix’s biggest international shows, and much of its success comes from the combination of clever plans, stylish action, comedy, and Sy’s performance as Assane. The character can be a thief, a father, a man on the run, and a master of disguise all in the same story.

Now the biggest question is how Assane will deal with being trapped in prison. He has always relied on his ability to think ahead, manipulate situations, and find an escape when things go wrong. Prison takes away many of those advantages, but it would be a mistake to assume that Assane has been completely defeated.

The first-look photos do not reveal exactly how he will get out of his latest situation, and Netflix is clearly saving those details for the season itself. What they do show is that Part 4 will continue to mix danger, mystery, and the stylish world that has made Lupin such a popular series.

Lupin Part 4 premieres on Netflix on October 23. Assane may be behind bars when the new season begins, but if there is one thing fans have learned, it is that keeping him there will not be easy.
