‘Batman: Knightfall Part 2’ Trailer and Pre-Orders Set for Batman Day

Batman’s biggest weakness in Knightfall may not be Bane anymore. It could be the person wearing his mask. After Batman is defeated and pushed out of action, Gotham is left with a new version of its protector, and that is where Batman: Knightfall Part 2 is expected to take the story. Warner Bros. Animation is now getting ready to show fans what comes next, with the first trailer scheduled to arrive on Batman Day.

According to information from Warner Bros. and DC, the trailer for Batman: Knightfall Part 2 will be released on September 19. That date is especially fitting because it falls on Batman Day, the annual celebration of the character. Fans will also be able to pre-order the animated movie when the trailer arrives, giving them a chance to lock in the next chapter of the trilogy right away.

The first movie focused heavily on Batman’s battle with Bane and the physical and emotional damage caused by that fight. Bane’s victory leaves Bruce Wayne unable to continue as Batman, creating a huge problem for Gotham. But instead of simply waiting for Bruce to recover, someone else decides to take his place. Jean-Paul Valley becomes the new Batman, and his version of the character is very different from Bruce’s.

That change is at the heart of what should make Part 2 interesting. Jean-Paul is not simply trying to copy Bruce Wayne. He has his own ideas about how Batman should operate, and his methods become much more aggressive. The original Knightquest comics explored what happens when someone takes the Batman identity but does not share Bruce’s limits or sense of responsibility. The animated movie is expected to bring that conflict to life while continuing the story started in Part 1.

This also means the sequel can move away from the Bane storyline and focus on a different kind of Batman conflict. Bruce’s biggest challenge now is not only getting back on his feet. He also has to deal with the fact that another man is using his name and symbol. Jean-Paul’s growing obsession with being Batman could make it harder for Bruce to reclaim the role when he is finally ready to return.

Warner Bros. Animation has chosen to divide this massive comic story into three movies. The original Knightfall saga was enormous, stretching across around 119 issues and covering Batman’s defeat, Jean-Paul’s time as Batman, and Bruce’s eventual comeback. The second movie is expected to focus on the Knightquest portion, while the final installment, Batman: Knightfall Part 3 – KnightsEnd, is planned for early 2027.

The schedule is moving pretty quickly. Part 1 arrived digitally on August 25, following its appearance at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June. Physical versions on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD followed on September 8. Warner Bros. has not announced an HBO Max streaming date for the first movie yet, so fans who want to catch up before the sequel will currently need to look toward digital and physical releases.

The timing of the next trailer could also make Batman Day a big moment for the project. Rather than quietly releasing another update, Warner Bros. is using one of the biggest Batman-related dates of the year to put Knightfall Part 2 back in front of fans. The trailer should give viewers their first real look at Jean-Paul’s version of Batman and how far the story will go before Bruce Wayne begins his fight to reclaim the cowl.

There is still no exact release date for Part 2 beyond its planned late-2026 window. If Warner Bros. follows the release pattern used for some of its previous animated trilogies, December could be a possibility, but that remains speculation until the studio confirms it.

For longtime Batman fans, the real question is whether this adaptation can make Jean-Paul Valley’s controversial run feel as important as it was in the comics. With the trailer arriving on September 19 and pre-orders opening at the same time, Warner Bros. is about to give everyone their first major look at the next stage of Batman’s fall and the dangerous man who thinks he can replace him.
