Stephanie Hsu and Poppy Liu Lead Netflix’s New Animated Sibling Comedy ‘Dang!’

Netflix has quietly rolled out one of its more distinctive adult animation projects this year with the arrival of ‘Dang!,’ a half hour comedy about three adult siblings trying to coexist in New York City. The series premiered on September 8, 2026, and became available to stream on Netflix in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, and other supported regions worldwide, with all eight episodes of Season 1 released at once.

The show arrives with a notable pedigree behind the camera and a small but well regarded voice cast in front of it. The series hails from creator Andrew Law and boasts an all-star lineup of executive producers including Mike Schur and Alan Yang. Stephanie Hsu

Stephanie Hsu is a well known actress and singer who has previously worked on ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ and ‘Joy Ride.’ She is well known for her dual role as Joy Wang and Jobu Tupaki in ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once,’ a performance that earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

In ‘Dang!,’ Hsu plays Ruthie, the family’s high achieving older sister. Ruthie is described as an uptight lawyer whose midlife crisis brings her down to her siblings’ level. Ruthie blows up her own life over an extramarital affair with a colleague, which prompts her move from San Francisco to New York to start semi fresh and reconnect with her brother and sister.

Hsu serves as the lead character of the animated series, with the story following her siblings as they try to figure out life in New York after her arrival in town. Her casting has been treated as a significant hook for the show given her recent big screen profile, and several outlets covering the premiere leaned heavily on her name recognition to introduce the series to readers unfamiliar with adult animation on Netflix.

Poppy Liu

Poppy Liu is known for roles in ‘Hacks’ and ‘His & Hers.’ She is a Chinese American actress also recognized for ‘Sunnyside,’ ‘iCarly,’ and ‘Dead Ringers.’

Liu voices Eunice Dang, one half of the sibling pair whose routine gets disrupted by Ruthie’s arrival. Eunice and her brother Andrew are portrayed as two codependent millennial burnouts living and barely working in New York City, with the show’s title doubling as their family surname minus the interrobang.

Eunice and Andrew are described as the youngest and middle children, living fun and messy lives in New York City before their family favorite older sister’s own life suddenly falls apart. Andrew Law

Law occupies a dual role on ‘Dang!,’ both starring in the series and steering it creatively. Law serves as the creator of ‘Dang!’ and is co-showrunner with Matt Murray, having previously worked together on ‘Parks and Recreation’ and ‘The Good Place.’

The series also reunites talent from NBC comedies such as ‘The Good Place’ and ‘Parks and Recreation,’ with Law joined behind the scenes by that same production pedigree. Schur executive produces alongside Alan Yang, David Miner for 3Arts Entertainment, and Titmouse’s Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Ben Kalina, and Antonio Canobbio.

When the project was first announced, Law offered a characteristically loose comment about the show’s tone. He said the team hoped audiences would fall in love with the characters, joking on Variety that they hoped viewers would find them very, very attractive, sexually. Animation on the series is handled by Titmouse, the studio behind Netflix hits like ‘Big Mouth’ and ‘The Midnight Gospel,’ with Universal Television producing.

SungWon Cho

When Ruthie blows up her own life over an extramarital affair with a colleague, that colleague is voiced by SungWon Cho. The casting gives the show a recognizable guest voice tied directly to the plot point that sends Ruthie back into her siblings’ orbit in the first place.

Beyond the central sibling triangle, ‘Dang!’ stands out as a rarity in adult animation as a series created by and centering on Asian Americans, a distinction several critics have flagged within Netflix’s broader animation slate. Cho’s role, while smaller than the three leads, functions as the narrative trigger for the entire season.
