Evan Peters Is Back as Tate Langdon in the Wildest ‘American Horror Story’ Reunion Yet, Check out the First Look

Evan Peters is bringing one of his most famous ‘American Horror Story’ characters back from the dead, and the latest first-look images have given fans a much better idea of what to expect. As ‘American Horror Story: 13’ gets closer to its September 24 premiere, the new season is looking less like a normal chapter of the anthology and more like a huge reunion of its most memorable characters.

ScreenRant shared a new collection of first-look images featuring ten characters from the upcoming season. The biggest surprise for many fans is Peters returning as Tate Langdon, complete with the Rubber Man suit. Tate first appeared in ‘Murder House’ and later returned in ‘Apocalypse,’ making him one of the characters most closely linked to the history of the franchise.

But Tate isn’t the only familiar face Peters is bringing back. The new images also show him as James Patrick March, the terrifying killer from ‘Hotel.’ Fans can also expect to see Kai Anderson from ‘Cult,’ another Peters character who left a major impression on the series. Having one actor play several of his old characters in the same season is already making ‘AHS: 13’ stand out from anything the show has done before.

The reunion doesn’t stop with Peters. Billie Lourd is returning as Winter Anderson from ‘Cult’ and Mallory from ‘Apocalypse,’ while Jamie Brewer is back as Addie Langdon from ‘Murder House.’ One of Brewer’s appearances has also caught attention because the character looks a lot like Nan, her fan-favorite role from ‘Coven’ and ‘Apocalypse.’

Several other familiar stars are also part of the season. Leslie Grossman returns as Coco St. Pierre Vanderbilt, while Orlando Jones is back as Papa Legba. The new cast includes Avantika as Ophelia, Alex Consani as Morwenna, Madelaine Petsch as Kira, and John Waters as Mr. Phibes.

All of this fits with what Ryan Murphy has said about the idea behind the season. Rather than making another ‘Coven’ follow-up, Murphy wanted to bring together some of the biggest villains in the show’s history. Speaking to Vogue, he explained, “I didn’t want to just do a Coven reboot. I was very interested in the greatest villains we’ve done.”

That comment makes the return of Tate, Kai and James Patrick March even more interesting. These characters come from very different parts of the ‘American Horror Story’ universe, so seeing them appear in one story could create some seriously strange combinations.

The casting gets even crazier when Sarah Paulson and Jessica Lange enter the picture. Paulson is reportedly playing six different characters during the season, while Lange is set to reprise four of her most famous roles. Lange’s return is especially important because she has not appeared as a regular part of the series since ‘Freak Show’ in 2015.

She did briefly return in ‘Apocalypse,’ but this new season marks a much bigger comeback. Murphy has also suggested that the project may not have happened if Lange had decided not to return, showing just how important she is to the franchise.

With so many familiar characters sharing the same season, ‘American Horror Story: 13’ could become one of the biggest fan-service events in the show’s history. At the same time, bringing back this many characters creates a major challenge. The season will need to give all these familiar faces enough to do without turning the story into a collection of cameos.

Still, the latest images suggest that the creators aren’t holding back. Tate Langdon alone is enough to get longtime fans talking, but adding James Patrick March, Kai Anderson, Winter, Mallory, Addie and so many others makes this reunion even harder to ignore.

For viewers who have been following ‘American Horror Story’ since ‘Murder House,’ seeing Evan Peters back in the Rubber Man suit may be the moment that finally makes the show’s biggest crossover feel real.
