‘Eternals’ Star Angelina Jolie Is Finally Leaving Los Angeles After Years of Feeling Trapped

Angelina Jolie appears to be entering a completely different chapter of her life, and this time, Los Angeles may not be part of it. After spending years raising her children in the city and dealing with the limits that came with her custody arrangement, the actress is finally preparing to move on.

Jolie recently opened up about her plans in an interview with L’Officiel, making it clear that she wants to spend more time outside the United States. Instead of settling permanently in one new home, she plans to divide her time between different parts of the world. The move comes after years of talking about wanting a life that feels less tied to Hollywood.

The biggest change is happening within Jolie’s family. Her youngest children, twins Knox and Vivienne, are now 18, meaning all six of her children are adults. Jolie shares Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne with Brad Pitt, and she has previously explained that her custody situation was one of the main reasons she stayed in Los Angeles for so long.

In an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jolie said that remaining in Los Angeles was not really the life she wanted. She explained that she stayed because of her children and the custody arrangement following her divorce from Pitt. She had also made it clear that she planned to leave once her youngest children reached adulthood.

Now that moment has arrived, and there are already signs that Jolie is serious about making the change. Back in May, she put her historic Los Feliz home on the market for $29.85 million. Jolie bought the property in 2017, shortly after separating from Pitt, and the large estate quickly became her main Los Angeles home.

The house has quite a history of its own. Built in 1913, the property sits on around two acres and includes six bedrooms and ten bathrooms. Reports say the home was renovated during Jolie’s time there and was later shown to pre-qualified buyers as she prepared for a possible move.

Exactly where Jolie will spend most of her time next is still not completely clear. Previous reports have pointed to Cambodia, France, and different parts of Africa as possible destinations. Cambodia is especially meaningful to Jolie because her oldest son, Maddox, was born there. She has also spent years working on humanitarian projects in the country and has strong personal ties to the region.

Her future plans seem to go well beyond simply finding a new place to live. Jolie has spoken about wanting to continue her humanitarian work and maintain her connection with communities in Cambodia, Vietnam, and Africa. She has also shown more interest in directing and producing, rather than making Hollywood acting the center of her life.

That doesn’t mean Jolie is walking away from movies altogether. Instead, her career could become more selective as she puts more attention on projects that fit the life she wants. After spending so many years under intense public attention, a quieter and more international lifestyle could give her more freedom to choose what comes next.

Privacy is another major reason this change matters to Jolie. She has often talked about how difficult it can be for children of famous parents to grow up with so much attention on them. Her children have had very little choice in how much of their lives became public because of their parents’ fame, and Jolie has made it clear that she wants to protect their privacy as much as possible.

For Jolie, leaving Los Angeles seems to be about much more than selling a house or changing her address. It represents a chance to build a life on her own terms after years of family changes, legal battles, and constant attention from the public.

With all six of her children now adults and her Los Feliz estate up for sale, the timing finally seems right. After nearly a decade of feeling tied to Los Angeles, Angelina Jolie may finally have the freedom to go wherever she wants next.
