‘The Office’ Stars Come Together for a Special Reason as Greg Daniels Gets His Hollywood Star

Greg Daniels has spent much of his career behind the camera, but this week he had a very public reason to celebrate. The creator and writer behind some of America’s biggest comedy shows has officially received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and several familiar faces showed up to make the moment even more special.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce honored Daniels with the 2,856th star on the famous sidewalk at 6357 Hollywood Boulevard. The star was placed in the Television category, giving Daniels a permanent spot alongside other major names from the entertainment world. According to the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony details, the event brought together people from different parts of Daniels’ long career, including some of his closest friends and former collaborators.

Of course, The Office was a major part of the celebration. Steve Carell, who played the unforgettable Michael Scott, was there to honor Daniels and speak about their years working together. The reunion gave fans another chance to see the connection between the people who helped turn the American version of The Office into such a huge success.

Conan O’Brien was also part of the ceremony, which made the event even more personal for Daniels. The two have known each other for decades, long before either became a major name in television. As reported by Variety, Daniels and O’Brien first became friends while they were both at Harvard University and involved with The Harvard Lampoon. Their professional relationship later continued as they worked together on television projects, including Not Necessarily The News and Saturday Night Live.

That long history explains why O’Brien was such a natural person to have at the ceremony. This was not simply a group of famous television stars coming together for a Hollywood event. It was also a celebration between longtime friends who had been part of each other’s careers from the very beginning.

Daniels’ career is also much bigger than The Office. He started working in television as a writer on The Simpsons before teaming up with Mike Judge to create King of the Hill. He later helped create Parks and Recreation with Michael Schur, another comedy that became a favorite for many viewers. Schur was also honored with his own Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 2025.

Even though The Office remains Daniels’ most famous project, his work clearly did not stop there. His latest series, The Paper, gives him another chance to play with the mockumentary style that made The Office so popular. The show takes place in the same fictional world but follows employees at a struggling newspaper in Toledo, Ohio. Rather than simply bringing back the old Dunder Mifflin characters, Daniels has used the new series to tell a different story.

The timing of the Walk of Fame ceremony was especially interesting because The Paper is still part of Daniels’ current work. According to the information surrounding the event, its second season had premiered just one day earlier on Peacock. That means Daniels was celebrating both the huge success of his past work and a new chapter in his career at almost the same time.
