Rising stars in Hollywood often build their public profile through a careful mix of acting breakthroughs and high-fashion brand partnerships, and few young actresses have managed that balance quite as effectively over the past two years as this particular Canadian talent. Between her growing film résumé and her expanding presence in the fashion world, she’s steadily becoming one of the industry’s most closely watched rising names.

Callina Liang first broke through with acclaimed performances in Steven Soderbergh’s ‘Presence’ and J.C. Lee’s ‘Bad Genius,’ both released in 2024, establishing her as a genuine dramatic talent before she’d even landed her biggest role yet. That momentum carried into her casting as Chun-Li in Legendary’s live-action ‘Street Fighter’ adaptation, a role that’s already generated significant buzz given the physical transformation she underwent to embody the iconic fighting game character.

Now Liang is turning heads again, this time on the fashion front. She’s the latest face fronting a Miu Miu campaign, continuing her ongoing relationship with the Italian luxury house that first began with the brand’s L’Été 2025 collection.

Liang’s history with Miu Miu dates back to that earlier 2025 campaign, where she appeared alongside actress Diana Silvers in a project photographed by artist and documentary filmmaker Siân Davey, marking Davey’s first foray into fashion photography. That campaign, art directed by Edward Quarmby with styling from Lotta Volkova, was described as a visual exploration of nostalgia and summer rebellion, featuring a cast of characters captured with an intimacy that felt both quietly revealing and subtly provocative.

Her continued presence in Miu Miu’s campaigns reflects the brand’s broader pattern of tapping rising actresses and cultural figures whose careers feel genuinely poised for a breakout moment, rather than simply relying on already-established supermodels for every campaign cycle. That approach has helped Miu Miu maintain a reputation for spotting talent early, giving Liang’s association with the brand added significance as her acting career continues to gain momentum.

Beyond her modeling work, Liang’s dedication to her craft has become a defining feature of her rising profile. For her role as Chun-Li in ‘Street Fighter,’ directed by Kitao Sakurai and also starring Jason Momoa, Andrew Koji, and Noah Centineo, Liang underwent months of martial arts training in Taekwondo, Muay Thai, and Wushu, reportedly building up significant leg strength specifically to embody the character’s physicality.

Liang studied Performance at LaSalle College of the Arts before beginning her career as a TikTok content creator during her teenage years, eventually transitioning into acting with her television debut in ITVX’s ‘Tell Me Everything’ in 2022. Born in Vancouver and raised across Beijing, Sydney, and Singapore, she speaks both English and Mandarin Chinese fluently, giving her a genuinely international background that’s mirrored in her increasingly global career trajectory.

With ‘Street Fighter’ set for release in 2026 and her continued visibility through high-fashion campaigns like this latest Miu Miu appearance, Liang looks positioned to become one of the more compelling breakout stars of the next few years. Between her physically demanding blockbuster role and her growing fashion credentials, she’s building exactly the kind of multifaceted public profile that tends to define a genuine star on the rise.
