Speaking about the experience, she explained that playing Lila reignited something in her that had been dormant. It was just so fun to play a character with that much duality, she told Collider, reflecting on how the season’s twisted take on female empowerment shaped her approach to the part.

The industry noticed too. In the weeks following the premiere, Agnez climbed into the Top 10 of IMDb’s Trending People STARmeter, landing alongside stars like Tom Holland and Anne Hathaway, while also cracking the top three on France’s AlloCiné rankings. For an actress returning to drama after a lengthy hiatus, that kind of global chart placement is a significant marker of how far her reach has extended.

Fellow Indonesian star Anggun joined the cast as Amisha Hoth, Lila’s mother and fellow assassin, giving the season a rare mother-daughter villain duo rooted in Southeast Asian talent. Their pairing has been repeatedly highlighted as a milestone moment for regional representation within a major American action franchise.

Online reaction has largely mirrored the industry buzz. Viewers reacting to the season have singled out Lila Hoth as a standout, with several praising how Agnez managed to make the character feel magnetic without tipping into excess, a balancing act that is notoriously difficult to pull off in an ensemble built around Ritchson’s towering lead performance.

For Agnez, the timing could not have worked out better. She has said the ‘Reacher’ opportunity arrived just as she was mapping out a different plan for the year, and taking it has since left her weighing whether to lean further back into acting after this extended run away from the screen.
