‘MobLand’ Is Back, and Critics Are Already Giving Season 2 a Perfect Score on Rotten Tomatoes

Crime dramas rise and fall on how convincingly they sell family loyalty as both a weapon and a liability, and few recent shows have leaned into that tension as hard as Paramount+’s breakout hit from Guy Ritchie. What started as a starry gamble on prestige crime television quickly turned into one of the streamer’s biggest original successes.

That momentum carried through months of uncertainty behind the scenes, including reports of tension involving star Tom Hardy that briefly clouded the show’s future. Paramount+ has now put that speculation to rest with a premiere date, a fresh trailer, and an early signal that the wait was worth it.

MobLand Season 2 arrives on Paramount+ on September 18, and the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer is already sitting at a perfect 100% based on the season’s first reviews. The 10-episode run returns Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren to the Harrigan family’s increasingly volatile fight for control, with new episodes releasing weekly through a November 20 finale.

Hardy reprises his role as Harry Da Souza, the family’s loyal fixer, who once again finds himself caught between competing loyalties as the Harrigans’ criminal empire faces mounting threats. The Season 2 trailer suggests those threats are coming from multiple directions at once, with betrayal and rising violence pushing the family closer to open civil war.

Paramount+ describes the new season as the Harrigans trying to present a united front while rivals circle an empire weakened by internal division. Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, played by Brosnan and Mirren, remain at the center of that power struggle, with Harry once again serving as the person tasked with holding everything together.

The returning ensemble also includes Paddy Considine as Kevin Harrigan, Joanne Froggatt as Harry’s wife Jan, and Lara Pulver as Bella Harrigan, alongside Janet McTeer and Toby Jones. Johnny Flynn and Ophelia Lovibond have been promoted to series regulars for Season 2, expanding the cast as the story widens its scope.

The road to Season 2 wasn’t entirely smooth. Reports surfaced earlier this year of behind-the-scenes tension between Hardy and the show’s producers, fueling speculation about whether he would return at all for future seasons.

Paramount+ addressed that uncertainty directly by confirming Hardy’s return not just for Season 2, but for an already-greenlit Season 3, putting months of rumors to rest before the new season even premiered. The renewal, announced ahead of the Season 2 debut, signals that despite the reported friction, the creative partnership behind ‘MobLand’ remains intact for the foreseeable future.

‘MobLand’ debuted in March 2025 and quickly became one of Paramount+’s biggest original series, drawing millions of viewers and following two rival London crime families whose escalating feud places Harry squarely in the crossfire. That success helped fuel the swift Season 3 renewal, cementing the show’s place as a cornerstone of the streamer’s original lineup.

Produced by Guy Ritchie, with creator Ronan Bennett also serving as an executive producer alongside Hardy and Jez Butterworth, the series has built its reputation on shifting alliances and high-stakes betrayals within London’s criminal underworld. With Season 2 already earning a flawless critical score before its full run has even played out, expectations for how the Harrigan family’s civil war unfolds are running higher than ever.
