‘Emily in Paris’ Has Officially Wrapped Filming, and Lily Collins Is Saying Goodbye to Her Most Fabulous Role

Six years is a remarkably long run for any show built around one city’s romantic mythology, let alone one that made a career out of stereotyping the very culture it was supposedly celebrating. Yet “Emily in Paris” managed to turn its glossy, fashion-forward take on expat life into one of Netflix’s most reliably successful comfort watches, keeping audiences hooked through Emily Cooper’s endless string of career pivots and romantic entanglements.

That run is now officially coming to a close. Production on the show’s sixth and final season began back in May, sending Lily Collins and the cast on location shoots across multiple countries before settling back into the streets of Paris one last time.

The final season of “Emily in Paris” has officially wrapped filming, with all episodes set to release December 24 on Netflix. The image marking the wrap, showing Collins seated in a director’s chair labeled “Fin,” was shared as production came to a close after months of shooting across Greece and France.

Creator, writer, and executive producer Darren Star framed the farewell season as an intentional final showcase for the show’s globe-trotting formula. “I wanted the final season to feel like the biggest Emily in Paris experience yet,” Star said in comments shared with VitalThrills. “We went to multiple locations this season, and Greece was somewhere we really wanted to showcase in a spectacular way. That’s part of the fantasy of Europe: you’re always within reach of another extraordinary place, another culture, another adventure.”

Season 6 continues directly from where Season 5 concluded, with Emily choosing to return to Paris after opening a Rome office for her marketing agency and ending a relationship along the way. The new season is expected to send Emily to Greece to reunite with her on-again, off-again chef boyfriend Gabriel, played by Lucas Bravo, picking up threads the show has been building toward for multiple seasons.

According to Netflix, the final chapter will center on Emily facing defining choices that test her loyalties, forcing her to navigate career conflicts and shifting relationships as she reconsiders where her future ultimately belongs. That framing positions the ending as a genuine culmination rather than another detour, giving the show’s central love triangle and career arc a real sense of closure.

Filming wasn’t entirely without complications. Series star Minnie Driver, who plays Princess Jane, was involved in a car accident during production and took time off to recover, prompting the show to shuffle its shooting schedule and move some of her remaining scenes to a later date. Despite that adjustment, the production stayed largely on track, wrapping in time to meet its planned holiday release window.

Collins announced the show’s ending back in January with a video message, telling fans, “Season 6 will bring you everything you love about the show and serve as the final chapter in Emily’s adventure of a lifetime. Our entire cast and crew are pouring our hearts into making this a fantastic farewell season.”

Across its five previous seasons, “Emily in Paris” built a reputation as one of Netflix’s most dependable holiday releases, consistently dropping new episodes in mid-to-late December for the past several years. With production now wrapped and a December 24 premiere locked in, fans will finally get to see how Darren Star and his team choose to close out Emily’s journey once and for all.
