Fans have spent decades asking for one specific thing from the Pokémon franchise: a way to explore multiple beloved regions within a single connected world rather than starting fresh with every new generation. That request has become something of a running joke among longtime players, the kind of dream project that always feels just out of reach.

New leaks suggest that dream might finally be taking shape behind the scenes at Game Freak, though nothing about the project has been officially confirmed by the studio, Nintendo, or The Pokémon Company. The claims trace back to Centro LEAKS, a prominent Pokémon leaker whose previous reports have generated significant buzz within the fan community.

According to Centro LEAKS, a multi-region Pokémon MMO codenamed “Project Seed” is currently in development at Game Freak, potentially connecting regions like Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Kitakami into a single interconnected world.

The leaker’s posts argue that the franchise has been gradually building toward this kind of expansive online experience for several generations, pointing to visible players appearing in parts of the map during Generation 8, broader player interaction introduced in Generation 9, and co-op and quest elements reportedly planned for Generation 10 as incremental steps leading toward a full MMO.

Much of this speculation stems from a larger cache of information known as the “Teraleak,” which reportedly originated from datamined internal Game Freak files. According to earlier reporting, some of the planning documents referenced in these leaks may date back to 2020, meaning the information could be significantly outdated or subject to change even if the underlying files are genuine.

Centro LEAKS has previously described Project Seed as “the dream multi-region Pokémon game that people have always asked for,” suggesting the project would allow players to walk freely between connected regions and interact with each other in a way the mainline games have never fully supported. Earlier versions of the leak specifically referenced Hoenn and Sinnoh as core regions tied to the project, describing it as a prototyping effort for a next-generation online game.

Timing estimates for Project Seed have shifted across different reports. Some leaks suggest the MMO could arrive alongside the upcoming “Pokémon Wind and Waves,” expected as part of the franchise’s tenth generation, while others place it further out as an eleventh-generation release. Various reports have floated release windows ranging anywhere from 2027 to 2029, underscoring just how much uncertainty still surrounds the project’s actual timeline.

Given the scale required to connect multiple full regions into one seamless world, a considerable development runway would make sense regardless of which generation the game ultimately launches alongside. Even optimistic estimates place a realistic release several years away.

Part of what makes Project Seed such a persistent topic of conversation is how directly it taps into a wish list fans have maintained for years. The idea of connecting nostalgic regions like Kanto and Johto with newer additions has been floated in fan concepts and forum discussions long before any leak suggested Game Freak might actually be pursuing something similar internally.

Until Game Freak, Nintendo, or The Pokémon Company issues any kind of official statement, Project Seed remains firmly in rumor territory, however detailed the leaked information might be. Still, for a fanbase that has spent decades hoping for exactly this kind of ambitious, region-spanning game, even an unconfirmed leak is enough to generate serious excitement.
