Pairing that setting with a father desperately trying to prove he’s still cool to his teenage son practically writes itself as comedic gold.

Jeremy Garelick, the writer-director behind “Murder Mystery 2,” has spent the past several weeks building anticipation for his latest festival-set comedy through a steady drip of trailers and clips. With the film’s October 2 release date now just weeks away, a new clip has dropped, offering another taste of the chaos awaiting audiences.

Fandango has released a new clip from “Rolling Loud: The Movie,” starring Owen Wilson, Matt Rife, and Christine Ko, ahead of the film’s October 2 theatrical release. The comedy follows Wilson as an overprotective, straight-laced dad desperately trying to prove he’s still the cool parent, making the ill-advised decision to sneak his 13-year-old son, played by Christian Convery, into Rolling Loud Miami, a festival headlined by Travis Scott.

According to the film’s official plot details, Wilson’s character loses his son almost immediately after getting into the festival, kicking off a frantic search through crowds, mosh pits, and backstage chaos. Along the way, he links up with Matt Rife’s chaotic wildcard character and Christine Ko’s own unpredictable ally, both of whom become tangled up in the escalating misadventure as the search stretches across the festival grounds.

That premise leans heavily into genuine culture-clash comedy, pairing Wilson’s fish-out-of-water dad energy against the raw, unpredictable atmosphere of a real-world hip-hop festival setting. Rather than filming a fictionalized stand-in for a festival, the production built its comedy directly around the real Rolling Loud brand and its actual musical lineup.

Beyond its core comedic trio, the film features a notable roster of musical guests appearing as themselves throughout the story, including Travis Scott, Sexyy Red, Ty Dolla Sign, and Ski Mask the Slump God. That blend of established comedic actors and real hip-hop stars gives the film a distinctly hybrid identity, part traditional buddy comedy and part authentic festival experience.

Henry Winkler and Olivia Luccardi round out the supporting cast, adding further comedic firepower to a film Movie Insider has described as playing like “The Hangover” meets “21 Jump Street.” That comparison tracks with the film’s overall structure: a chaotic, escalating chase through unfamiliar territory, populated by increasingly bizarre characters along the way.

The film comes from a partnership between American High, Live Nation Productions, and Ketchup Entertainment, with Garelick also serving as producer alongside Will Phelps and Stella Bulochnikov. Live Nation’s involvement makes sense given the production’s deep integration with the actual Rolling Loud festival brand and its lineup of performing artists.
