Line of Fire’ Cast (With Photos), Meet the Family at the Center of NBC’s New Thriller
NBC’s newest drama follows a single family spread across nearly every branch of federal law enforcement, and the ensemble built around that premise is stacked with familiar faces from network television, prestige cable, and Broadway. ‘Line of Fire’ premiered Monday, September 21, at 10 p.m. on NBC, with new episodes streaming the next day on Peacock.
The series comes from creator and showrunner Joshua Safran and is executive produced alongside Jenna Bush Hager and her producing partner Ben Spector, with Universal Television serving as the studio. Below is a closer look at the actors bringing the Hollingsworth family, and the agents circling them, to life.
Peter Krause
Peter Krause plays Mike Hollingsworth, a Secret Service agent and the head of the family at the center of the show. He is a two-time Screen Actors Guild Award winner who began his career on NBC’s sketch show ‘Carol and Company’ before starring as Nate Fisher on ‘Six Feet Under’ and later as Captain Bobby Nash on ‘9-1-1’.
‘Line of Fire’ marks Krause’s first onscreen role since Bobby Nash was killed off during Season 8 of ‘9-1-1’. Speaking about what drew him to the project, Krause said the script and a virtual meeting with Safran convinced him the two would work well together.
Hope Davis
Hope Davis stars opposite Krause as Jane Hollingsworth, a U.S. Marshal and the family’s matriarch. Her film credits include ‘About Schmidt’, ‘American Splendor’, ‘Captain America: Civil War’, and ‘Asteroid City’, while her television work spans ‘Wayward Pines’, ‘For the People’, ‘Your Honor’, ‘Perry Mason’, and a turn as Sandi Furness on ‘Succession’.
Discussing Jane’s marriage to Mike at NBCUniversal’s Backlot Pass event in August, Davis teased that the couple keeps secrets from each other and disagrees on plenty, but is not finished working things out. She also continues to appear on stage, most recently in the 2026 off-Broadway production ‘What We Did Before Our Moth Days’.
Kat Cunning
Kat Cunning, who is non-binary and uses they and them pronouns, plays daughter Clare Hollingsworth. A graduate of the SUNY Purchase Dance Conservatory, Cunning made their television debut in HBO’s ‘The Deuce’ opposite James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal before co-starring in Netflix’s ‘Trinkets’ as Sabine.
Beyond acting, Cunning has built a parallel career as a recording artist and choreographer, and has also appeared in the Jennifer Lopez comedy ‘Marry Me’ and Netflix’s ‘Purple Hearts’.
Tommy O’Brien
Tommy O’Brien plays Mike “Micah” Hollingsworth Jr., one of the Hollingsworth children navigating both the family business and its fallout. He joins Krause, Davis, Cunning, and Taylor Bloom as part of the core family unit introduced in the pilot.
His casting was confirmed alongside the rest of the family lineup when NBC unveiled the show’s full principal cast ahead of its fall premiere.
Taylor Bloom
Taylor Bloom rounds out the Hollingsworth siblings as Russ Hollingsworth. Bloom appears throughout the early episodes alongside O’Brien and Cunning as the family’s dynamic, and its secrets, begin to surface.
The three actors playing the Hollingsworth children have been featured together in the show’s promotional stills and trailer materials released ahead of the premiere.
Charlie Barnett
Charlie Barnett joins the main cast as Jack. Barnett is best known to television audiences for playing Alan Zaveri in Netflix’s ‘Russian Doll’, Eric Payne in NBC’s ‘Ordinary Joe’, and Yord Fandar in ‘The Acolyte’.
He also spent three seasons as firefighter Peter Mills on ‘Chicago Fire’ earlier in his career, giving him an existing history with NBC’s first responder and law enforcement dramas before joining ‘Line of Fire’.
Sam Waterston
Sam Waterston joins the series as a guest star, adding a recognizable presence for longtime NBC viewers. He is widely known for his long-running role on ‘Law & Order’ as well as his part in ‘Grace and Frankie’, according to Deadline, which broke the news of his casting.
Campbell Scott
Campbell Scott also guest stars in ‘Line of Fire’. His prior credits include ‘Furious’ and ‘Royal Pains’, and his casting was announced as part of a trio of guest stars added to the series in August.
Chris Chalk
Chris Chalk completes the guest star trio, bringing recent credits from ‘It: Welcome to Derry’ and ‘Feud: Capote vs. the Swans’ to the project. His addition, along with Waterston and Scott, was first reported as an exclusive by Deadline, which detailed how the guest arcs tie into the show’s central conspiracy.
With the Hollingsworth family’s secrets only beginning to unravel in the premiere, viewers who tuned in for the launch of ‘Line of Fire’ now have plenty to weigh in on, starting with which family member they think the killer is really after.
