ABC’s South Florida crime drama is settling into its weekly rhythm, and fans are already circling their calendars for the next chapter. Scott Speedman returns as R.J. Decker in a season that reunites him with an old prison acquaintance, pulling him into a string of daring bank heists while the fallout from Victor Ochoa’s death continues to ripple through the cast.

With two episodes now behind it, ‘R.J. Decker’ Season 2 is building toward its third outing, and viewers want to know exactly when and how to catch it. Here is everything confirmed so far about the upcoming episode.

R.J. Decker Season 2 Release Date and Time

Episode 3 of ‘R.J. Decker’ Season 2 is set to air Tuesday, September 29, at 10 p.m. ET on ABC. That keeps the series on the same weekly cadence it established with its first two installments this month.

The season overall consists of seven episodes, airing weekly on ABC on Tuesdays. The premiere kicked things off on September 15, following the two night premiere of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ at 8 p.m.

The first episode, titled ‘The Point of Us Breaking,’ saw a reunion with someone R.J. knew in prison draw him into a series of bank robberies while the fallout from Victor Ochoa’s death continued. The second episode, titled ‘Manos, Hands of Fate,’ followed on September 22, setting up whatever complications Episode 3 has in store.

For viewers who missed the first season entirely, catching up will not require much homework. The first season ran for nine episodes after being picked up midseason at ABC.

Where to Watch R.J. Decker Season 2

New episodes air every Tuesday on ABC at 10 p.m. ET and PT, then drop the following day on Hulu and Hulu on Disney Plus for bundle subscribers. That means Episode 3 should be available for streaming the day after its broadcast premiere.

International viewers have their own timeline to track. In Canada, ‘R.J. Decker’ Season 2 became available on Disney Plus starting September 16, 2026, with new episodes streaming weekly on the platform.

RJ Decker Season 2 Plot and Preview

The season picks up in the aftermath of a death that reshaped the entire cast’s dynamic. Season 2 picks up after the events of ‘Even Walls Fall Down,’ which ended with the shocking death of Victor Ochoa.

In that Season 1 finale, R.J. Decker finally managed to put the man who sent him to jail behind bars, stealing a flash drive from Victor’s compound with help from Emi and Catherine that revealed Victor’s associate Bruce was involved in the murder of a woman named Jessica. Victor had helped Bruce cover up that murder and conceal the evidence, so when Bruce confessed, the corrupt senator faced incrimination and jail time, only for Victor himself to turn up dead in the final moments of the finale.

That cliffhanger has consequences that stretch well into the new season. It has been two months since Victor Ochoa’s murder when the new season picks up, and private investigator R.J. has been steering clear of his daughter figure, Emi, after the two hit the pause button on their relationship in the Season 1 finale. Victor’s murder puts the people closest to him under scrutiny and creates new problems for R.J. and Emi, and Beau Bridges joins the story this season as Reggie Decker, R.J.’s estranged father.

Speedman himself has weighed in on how the tragedy colors his character’s arc this season. In an exclusive conversation with TV Insider, showrunner Rob Doherty said the people closest to Victor will have to find themselves under a magnifying glass, adding that Victor copped to being a shady politician, which he called a very rare thing to see happen on screen.

R.J. Decker Season 2 Cast

The core ensemble from Season 1 has stayed intact for the sophomore run. The series stars Scott Speedman as R.J. Decker, Jaina Lee Ortiz as Emilia Emi Ochoa, Bevin Bru as Detective Melody Mel Abreu, Kevin Rankin as Aloysius Wish Aiken, and Adelaide Clemens as Catherine Delacroix.

The show draws from a well known literary source and carries a pedigree that predates its television debut. ‘R.J. Decker’ is inspired by Carl Hiaasen’s novel ‘Double Whammy’ and follows Speedman’s title character, a former newspaper photographer and ex-con who starts over as a private investigator in the colorful and crime filled world of South Florida.

David Zayas returns as Victor Ochoa in flashback or related capacity, credited as Emi’s father and a corrupt Florida state senator, while Stephen Bishop plays Bruce Vinkour. Beau Bridges has joined the cast in a recurring capacity for the second season as Reggie Decker, R.J.’s estranged father.

Guest appearances have also added some star power to the early episodes. Saturday Night Live veteran Sasheer Zamata guest stars as an FBI agent with a history with Detective Mel, and the premiere also featured appearances from ‘Dancing with the Stars’ pros Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy alongside ‘The Bachelor’ star Joey Graziadei.

The show has proven it can pull an audience, too. The series set a five year ratings record for ABC’s 10 p.m. time slot following its March 3 premiere, drawing 3.69 million live plus same day viewers and, within six days, amassing 11.64 million multiplatform viewers across ABC, Hulu, Hulu on Disney Plus, digital platforms and two linear encores.

With Victor’s killer still unidentified and R.J. and Emi’s relationship still finding its footing, Episode 3 has plenty of threads to pull.
