‘Miraculous Ladybug’ Season 6 Recap, Everything That Happened As Chrysalis Hunted Ladybug’s Identity

Season 6 of ‘Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir’ closed out one of the show’s most secret heavy arcs, and viewers catching up now have a lot to untangle. The sixth season premiered on TFOU on 23 March 2025 and consists of 26 episodes. Anyone revisiting the season, or discovering it for the first time, is walking into a story built almost entirely around hidden identities, buried lies, and a villain who studies her enemies before she ever strikes.

The central conflict of the season follows Marinette as she struggles with the morality of hiding Gabriel’s villainy from Adrien and the world, while Lila Rossi, a former classmate turned nemesis, adopts the supervillain name Chrysalis after claiming the Butterfly Miraculous for herself. That single choice, made at the tail end of the previous arc, becomes the engine for nearly everything that follows in this recap.

Miraculous Ladybug Season 6 Plot, How Chrysalis Changed The Game

Following the death of Monarch, Chrysalis takes control of the Butterfly Miraculous and, unbeknownst to Marinette and Adrien in their roles as Ladybug and Cat Noir, begins creating akumatized villains to battle them. This marks a shift from earlier seasons, since the new villain is not simply causing chaos for its own sake.

Chrysalis is explicitly aiming to discover Ladybug’s true identity, and she begins directing akuma powered villains of her own against Ladybug, Cat Noir, and their expanded superhero team known as the Miraculers. The heroes spend much of the season on the defensive, trying to identify their opponent while she studies them from the shadows.

Rather than akumatizing Parisians simply to force them into stealing the Miraculous, Chrysalis instead uses her victims as a distraction while she analyzes the battles themselves, trying to piece together the heroes’ secret identities. She quickly narrows her suspicion to Marinette, going so far as to akumatize her into a villain called Heartfixer, something even Gabriel Agreste had never managed to do during his own run as Monarch.

Alongside the fight against Chrysalis, the season also has the Miraculers contending with a secret society that Gabriel Agreste was once part of. That thread ties the new threat directly back to the show’s previous big bad, giving longtime viewers a sense that the story is building toward something larger than a single villain reveal.

Miraculous Ladybug Cast And New Additions This Season

Familiar faces carry most of the season, though the show also shuffled a few supporting characters around. Luka, previously established as having trained under Su-Han in Tibet, leaves Paris in Season 6 for Brazil under the pretense of having a girlfriend named Irupé, though both he and Irupé privately know he still has feelings for Marinette. Marinette, notably, is unaware of this lingering attachment.

The season also leans into its ensemble more than usual. The superheroes, now collectively nicknamed the Miraculers, spend part of the season training to make sure they never lose their powers again, a direct response to how easily Chrysalis has been able to exploit them. That training becomes relevant in several of the season’s mid run episodes.

A recurring subplot involves a social media figure rather than a superpowered villain at first. Marinette and Adrien discover their relationship is being publicly misrepresented by Vincent Aza, an influencer operating under the name Vincent Secret, and the two appear on his podcast to set the record straight, only for him to edit the footage to make them look bad. Rena Rouge later confronts him in disguise, he admits to deliberately exaggerating stories for views, and Alya exposes him publicly, which results in him being akumatized into Revelator, a variant of Pixelator capable of forcing people’s secrets into the open.

That single episode ends up mattering more than it first appears. During the resulting battle, Rena Rouge learns that Marinette never told Adrien the truth about his father’s secret identity as Monarch, and the revelation leaves her angry with Marinette even though the Miraculous Ladybug does not erase her memory of the discovery. In response, Cat Noir upgrades his own ability into a version referred to as Miraculous Cat Noir, one capable of destroying memories outright.

Miraculous Ladybug Season 6 Finale, What Happens In Nemesis

The season closes with its one hundred and fifty seventh overall episode, titled Nemesis, in which Alya finally discovers who Monarch really was. Before she can even confront Marinette about the fallout of that secret, the group is forced into one last high stakes plan.

In the finale, Chrysalis is ultimately duped by a Mirage illusion of a distraught Marinette, one designed to look like she has been betrayed by Alya, and Chrysalis akumatizes the illusion into a villain called Nemesis. The trick works because Chrysalis has, by this point, been convinced through her prior experiences that Marinette cannot possibly be Ladybug, and she notably makes no attempt to interrogate Marinette or react with suspicion when Ladybug appears at the same time as her new villain.

The plan carries real risk for the heroes as well as for Chrysalis. By fooling her into believing she has akumatized the real Marinette while Ladybug fights alongside her, the team appears to finally throw off Chrysalis’ long running suspicion, though the cost is that Chrysalis sets her own hideout ablaze along with all of her notebooks, destroying the evidence either side could have used against the other. It is also revealed in this episode that Chrysalis possesses a shapeshifting ability, though the show never fully clarifies whether this is an innate power or something drawn from the Butterfly Miraculous itself, since Gabriel never displayed anything similar despite holding the same Miraculous for longer.

For a season built almost entirely on secrets, ‘Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir’ ends its sixth run without fully resolving any of them, leaving Lila’s true intentions, Alya’s anger, and Chrysalis’ next move all hanging in the balance heading into what comes next.
