The singer has a long history of making the MTV Video Music Awards her personal fashion playground, and fans have come to expect something memorable every time she steps onto the carpet. In 2022, she arrived dripping in silver in a luxurious floor-length gown, and a year later she wore a corseted denim velveteen patchwork dress from Roberto Cavalli’s Fall-Winter 2023 Ready-To-Wear collection, with a high slit running from a structured top to a flowy train. More recently, she turned heads at the Vanities celebration in a completely see-through crochet dress from Amiri.
The latest chapter arrived on Sunday night, when TMZ shared a video of Chloe Bailey arriving at the 2026 VMAs, instantly drawing thousands of fan reactions under the post. She was photographed at the MTV Video Music Awards at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 27, where Snoop Dogg hosted the show as it returned to the West Coast for the first time since 2017.
The look itself was pure sparkle. She wore an elaborate silver crystal-embellished ensemble with a sculpted bra-style bodice, geometric cutouts, and a sheer floor-length skirt covered in intricate beaded patterns, while a jeweled cross pendant and statement earrings added even more shine. Her hair was swept into an intricate updo with curled tendrils framing her face.
The footwear got its own spotlight too. Her champagne-colored satin platform sandals featured a cage-like toe band, a thick platform sole, and an ankle strap with adjustable buckle closures, and she wore them despite not being nominated that night.

What made this arrival more than just another pretty picture was the story behind it. The singer described entering a brand-new phase in her music and personal life, and she didn’t mince words when she told E! News on the blue carpet, “We are in the resurrection era.”
She also explained that the revealing silhouette was a deliberate shift. “I’ve been keeping my carpets really like fashion, and when it comes to showing the body, safe a little bit, so tonight we were like, ‘Let’s show a little skin,'” she said. Even her beauty choices were part of the concept. Bailey noted that she loves her natural face, but feels the lighter brows give “music Chloe” a little edge that matches her music.
The fashion press was quick to take notice. Rolling Stone’s roundup of the night’s best looks compared her outfit to an Erté Art Deco drawing, modernized with an exposed midriff and bleached brows, and joked that she showed no mercy with such a jaw-dropping look.

It was a crowded night for fashion moments, with the overall carpet leaning heavily into sparkle, skin-baring silhouettes, and dramatic textures, and Teen Vogue calling this year’s arrivals particularly experimental.

For an artist who is also one half of the Grammy-nominated duo Chloe x Halle, the VMAs have always been a natural home. But pairing a daring couture-style look with a clear message about her next era turns a simple red carpet appearance into something closer to a rollout.
Whether the bleached brows and crystal cutouts become the visual signature of her new music remains to be seen, but the intent is clear. Chloe Bailey is done playing it safe, and she wanted everyone at the Peacock Theater to know it.
