Jane Fonda (88) Steals the Show on L’oréal’s Paris Runway in a Showstopping Red Sequin Gown
Every year, L’Oréal Paris kicks off Paris Fashion Week with a celebration of confidence, and Jane Fonda’s Paris runway appearances have become one of its most anticipated traditions. The brand’s annual Le Défilé is staged as a public runway show near the Eiffel Tower and celebrates women’s empowerment, inclusivity, freedom, confidence, and sisterhood.
This year’s 9th edition took place on Monday, September 28, at Place Joffre, under the theme “Express Your Worth.” The show opened the Spring/Summer 2027 season, bringing together women of different generations, cultures and backgrounds.
Among a lineup packed with stars, the 88-year-old Hollywood legend delivered one of the night’s biggest fashion moments. Fonda walked the runway in a long-sleeved, floor-length red gown covered in sequins, featuring a twisted, ruched neckline and a subtle keyhole detail.
She leaned fully into the monochrome look, pairing the dress with red T-strap heels and a matching red lip. Her silver curls were styled with soft volume, and she struck an animated pose at the end of the runway with her arms stretched out wide.
The gown wasn’t the only thing that got people talking. After her walk, Fonda shared a spontaneous moment with Kristen Bell, and the two were seen holding hands and dancing together on the runway.
It was a special night for Bell too, who was making her runway debut for the brand after being named a global L’Oréal Paris ambassador in August. She wore a black strapless jumpsuit with a sculpted bodice and cut-out detail, and one report described Bell turning around after her walk to emphasize just how incredible Fonda looked.
Fonda was surrounded by a remarkable group of women. Kendall Jenner, Heidi Klum, Viola Davis, Cara Delevingne, Eva Longoria, Andie MacDowell and Simone Ashley were all part of the show.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also drew strong attention, alongside skier Lindsey Vonn, singer Anitta and ‘Off Campus’ star Mika Abdalla, who made her Paris Fashion Week debut. The mix of film, fashion and sport reflected L’Oréal’s global reach.
This isn’t Fonda’s first standout moment on the L’Oréal catwalk. At last year’s show, held at the Hôtel de Ville, the then-87-year-old wowed in a figure-hugging, shimmering long-sleeved gold sequin dress, finished with silver heels, bold earrings and old Hollywood glam.

She struck a powerful pose at the end of that runway too, with one hand on her hip and the other raised in the air. The crowd reportedly cheered as soon as she appeared. The year before, she took a more playful approach. At the 7th edition of the event, she paired a sparkling, rhinestone-encrusted belted silver trench coat with silver-and-white sneakers and a bold pink lip.
Fonda’s appearances have become a highlight of the show year after year. Her presence reinforces the event’s message of women’s empowerment and diversity, proving that style truly has no age limit.
This year’s red gown felt like the boldest statement yet. The color, the sparkle and her joyful energy on the runway made it one of the most talked-about moments of the evening.
