Hailee Steinfeld has had a huge year, and her latest late-night appearance showed how much has changed for the ‘Sinners’ star. She and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen announced the arrival of their baby girl on April 2, sharing the news through Steinfeld’s ‘Beau Society’ Substack newsletter. The couple later revealed that their daughter’s name is Harper Haize Allen.

Steinfeld’s return to the spotlight has been gradual. She made her first red carpet appearance since welcoming her daughter at the Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23 on August 14 in Anaheim, where she promoted her upcoming animated film ‘Hexed.’ Since then, she has been juggling a busy schedule that includes serving as the new face of Estée Lauder’s Glimmer fragrance and writing weekly issues of her Beau Society newsletter.

On September 29, Steinfeld stopped by ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ for an interview with the host. She was 1 of 3 interviewees on the episode, which also featured Daniel Kaluuya, pro baseball player Justin Verlander, and musical guest Magnus Ferrell. Photos from the taping, shared by JumpTrailers, showed the actress smiling on set in a deep burgundy velvet look with a shimmering fringed skirt.

The conversation quickly moved to her life at home. Fallon brought up the couple’s marriage, their baby, and Allen’s strong start to the season before asking whether they get superstitious when things are going well. Steinfeld didn’t hesitate to say they are, joking that it’s hard not to be when everything is going their way.

The timing made sense. The Bills are off to a 3-0 start heading into Week 4, and Allen has been central to keeping the team unbeaten. Steinfeld’s appearance came just 2 days after the Chargers-Bills game, as she traveled to Manhattan for the taping.

Steinfeld and Fallon also shared a lighter moment during the Don’t Say The Same Thing Challenge. This wasn’t her first visit to the show, either, since she previously appeared there to talk about her engagement to Allen and play Password with Elton John.

The Tonight Show stop also comes as her next film release gets closer. In ‘Hexed,’ Steinfeld voices Billie Doe, a teenage oddball who discovers she has magic powers, while Rashida Jones voices her Type-A mom. The cast also includes Jodie Foster and Walton Goggins, and the film opens in theaters on November 25.

The story means a lot to her personally. Speaking to Access Hollywood at D23, Steinfeld said ‘Hexed’ was the first project she had worked on since having her baby and also throughout her pregnancy, and that telling a mother-daughter story was especially meaningful to her. She added that she was already imagining the day she gets to watch it with her daughter.

New parenthood hasn’t been effortless. In a recent newsletter, Steinfeld admitted she’d had a tough week mentally and emotionally while balancing her responsibilities as a new mother. That honesty drew a wave of reactions online, with some commenters turning their frustration toward her husband.

Allen, for his part, has been open about how fatherhood has changed him. In an ESPN interview, the quarterback said his family is now his biggest motivation, adding that his wife and daughter are his top priority. He also called Steinfeld a rock star and the perfect partner.

For longtime fans, seeing Steinfeld back on a talk show couch felt like a welcome milestone. The Oscar-nominated star, known for ‘Hawkeye’ and the ‘Pitch Perfect’ franchise, has kept a relatively low profile in recent months, which made this appearance feel even bigger.

The JumpTrailers post featuring photos from her Fallon appearance drew more than 6,000 views and over 500 likes within hours. With ‘Hexed’ press ramping up and the Bills still undefeated, this probably won’t be the last time fans see her on a late-night stage this fall.
