When Netflix dropped ‘His & Hers’ at the start of the year, few could have predicted just how massive the Alice Feeney adaptation would become. The 6-episode limited series premiered on January 8 with Tessa Thompson starring as Anna Andrews, a journalist who returns to her Georgia hometown after a murder. Jon Bernthal played Jack Harper, Anna’s estranged husband and a detective working on the investigation.

The show quickly turned into a phenomenon. It pulled in 104 million views worldwide from its launch through the end of June, making it Netflix’s most-watched show for the first half of 2026, and Nielsen data named it the No. 1 streaming series across all platforms in the United States. Interestingly, the internet became obsessed with the thriller even as professional reviews skewed far more negative.

Now, the creative minds behind that hit are looking to strike gold twice. As first reported by Deadline, the team behind the Bernthal and Thompson-led thriller has once again teamed with Fifth Season to adapt Feeney’s next book, ‘Twist’. William Oldroyd will return to write and direct the series.

The familiar faces don’t stop there. Fifth Season will serve as the studio, joined by Kristen Campo’s Campout Productions, Jessica Chastain and Kelly Carmichael’s Freckle Films, and Bill Dubuque and Thompson’s Viva Maude. Executive producers include Oldroyd, Campo, Chastain, Dubuque, Thompson, Carmichael, and Kishori Rajan.

Fans of Feeney’s signature brand of domestic suspense should feel right at home. ‘Twist’ is a thriller about love, marriage, murder, and revenge, centering on a flight attendant living a double life with 2 different husbands, and a murder that shatters their lives. Told across dual points of view, the story asks if we can ever really know the person we marry.

The novel follows Ariella, who in one life is Noah’s wife and a mother in a picturesque village, and in the other is Luka’s glamorous new bride in London. It’s a premise that shares plenty of DNA with ‘His & Hers’, including secrets, complicated relationships, and crimes.

Readers won’t have long to wait to get their hands on the source material. Macmillan will publish ‘Twist’ on February 23, 2027, through its Flatiron Books: Pine & Cedar imprint. Both the studio and the author are clearly excited about continuing their partnership.

“The incredible success of ‘His & Hers’ demonstrated what this group can accomplish together,” Noah Greenshner, EVP and Head of TV Creative for Fifth Season, said in the statement shared with Deadline.

Feeney was just as enthusiastic. “Having had such a wonderful experience with ‘His & Hers’, it was a very easy decision to get the band back together for ‘Twist’,” the author said, adding that it “feels like a dream come true.”

For now, plenty of questions remain. No cast or distributor has been announced for the adaptation yet, so it’s unclear whether Thompson will appear on screen or whether the series will land at Netflix. Still, the creative continuity is significant, and there’s currently no confirmed release date.

Given how ‘His & Hers’ performed, it’s hard to imagine streamers won’t be lining up for another Feeney thriller from the same team. Feeney, a former BBC journalist for 15 years, has built a loyal following of crime fiction fans, which helped the first adaptation reach millions more around the world.
