Every summer, West London transforms into a sea of feathers, sequins, and pulsing soca rhythms, and few celebrities embrace it quite like Nathalie Emmanuel. The ‘Game of Thrones’ star, best known for playing Missandei, has turned her yearly trip to the festival into a celebration of her Caribbean heritage. Now, Nathalie Emmanuel’s Notting Hill Carnival photos from this year are making the rounds online once again.

Notting Hill Carnival is widely considered Europe’s largest street party, celebrating Caribbean culture, music, and heritage through parades, steel bands, and Caribbean food. For Emmanuel, the event is about far more than spectacle, as it offers a chance to honor both Dominica and St. Lucia, the islands tied to her roots.

On October 1, the fan account Daily Frame shared 2 photos of the actress from this year’s festivities, praising the vibrant carnival energy she brought to London. The images show Emmanuel beaming in an elaborate jeweled costume with towering deep red feathers spreading out behind her like wings. A sparkling headpiece crowns the look, while in one shot she holds a flag as she dances through the crowd.

The post quickly gained traction. It’s not the first time this year’s look has gone viral either, as another fan post on X in early September also celebrated her appearance at the carnival. Emmanuel originally shared photos from the event herself, showing her carrying the flags of Dominica and St. Lucia as she played mas.

In her Instagram caption, she referenced the telephone area codes for the 2 islands, a nod to her heritage that fans quickly picked up on. She also credited fellow Dominican photographer Kage for the shots. The post was tagged with a hashtag celebrating 60 years of the carnival, highlighting the milestone nature of this year’s event.

This isn’t Emmanuel’s first time making headlines at the festival. At the 2025 Notting Hill Carnival, she similarly carried the Dominican and Saint Lucian flags while wearing a purple-and-gold costume from Airam Tribe. That outfit, created by designer Tiffanni T, featured jeweled details and fiery feathered wings.

That year, she joined the Hot Gyal Section, one of Airam Tribe’s mas bands, alongside groups like Bajan Mas and Bajan Raw Licquer. She also praised the designer publicly, describing it as a privilege to wear Airam Tribe’s costumes and calling the craftsmanship undeniable.

Her love for the event stretches back even further. Emmanuel shared a post from Notting Hill Carnival in 2023, and in 2025 she described the festival as her happy place. What makes Emmanuel’s annual appearances resonate is the meaning behind them. Observers have noted that for the actress, carnival isn’t simply a performance but an expression of cultural pride.

Her flags, captions, and collaborations with Caribbean creatives all point to a deep personal connection with the celebration. The festival itself has a powerful history rooted in community. Coverage of last year’s event described Emmanuel as embodying the carnival spirit of resistance, rebellion, and joy, themes that continue to define the celebration today.

Part of the appeal is how joyful Emmanuel looks in every shot. Unlike carefully staged red carpet appearances, her carnival photos capture an artist fully immersed in a celebration she loves.

That authenticity is exactly why fans keep sharing these images weeks after the parade ended. With her carnival appearances becoming an annual tradition, it’s safe to say fans are already looking forward to whatever costume she debuts next year.
