Amber Heard has spent the past few years living about as far from the Hollywood spotlight as a recognizable actress can get. The ‘Aquaman’ star moved to Spain following her highly publicized 2022 defamation case with ex-husband Johnny Depp, and she has kept a deliberately low profile ever since. That’s why any Amber Heard Instagram update tends to draw plenty of attention.

Her social media presence has been sporadic at best. When she does post, it usually offers only a small window into her day-to-day life. She has occasionally shared glimpses of her Spanish routine, and she is now raising her 3 children in the country.

On Wednesday, September 30, the 40-year-old shared a new photo on Instagram, her first feed post in roughly 14 weeks. The image shows her at El Celler de Can Roca, a three-Michelin-star restaurant in Girona.

In the snap, Heard laughs as she flips through the restaurant’s enormous wine list. She wears a red halter-neck top with her blonde hair pulled up into a braided style, and a rack of glassware fills the background. Her short caption joked that this was exactly her kind of wine list. The outing came with a hefty price tag. According to the Daily Mail, the restaurant’s festival menu can cost €315 per person, a detail several outlets highlighted in their coverage.

Heard picked an iconic spot for her rare update. El Celler de Can Roca was founded in 1986 by the Roca brothers, next to their family’s restaurant, Can Roca, which had operated on the site since 1967. The Michelin Guide notes the brothers are marking 40 years since the restaurant opened its doors, and that it has a long waiting list.

The accolades are impressive. Restaurant magazine ranked it the best restaurant in the world in 2013 and 2015, and it came second in 2011, 2012, 2014, and 2018. The kitchen earned its second Michelin star in 2002 and its third in 2009.

Its reputation within the culinary world is just as strong. The Michelin Guide simply describes its cuisine as “creative,” and it is often referred to as a successor to El Bulli, which was once ranked the number 1 restaurant in the world.

For Heard, the photo reflects a very different pace of life from her years in the headlines. People magazine has reported that a source close to her said she felt she needed to leave the US after the polarizing trial. Since then, she has largely focused on her family away from the public eye.

That context helps explain why such a simple post has made the rounds, from American outlets to outlets worldwide. A smiling dinner photo might be ordinary for most celebrities, but for Heard, it marks a rare public moment.

Many followers seemed pleased to see her looking relaxed and happy. One outlet observed that a cheerful photo over a wine list reads as a small but telling sign of how much has changed since the courtroom years.

Whether she will begin sharing more of her life in Spain remains to be seen. Given her track record, fans may have to wait a while for the next update, but this one has certainly made an impression.
