‘The Nanny’ Star Fran Drescher (69) Dazzles at NYC Ballet Gala as Her Secret To Aging Well Resurfaces
The New York City Ballet’s Fall Fashion Gala has become one of the most anticipated nights on the autumn social calendar, and this year Fran Drescher was one of its standout guests. Now in its 14th year, the event brought stars like Stevie Nicks and Julia Fox to Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater on Thursday, October 1, with Sarah Jessica Parker serving as founding chair.
Drescher, who turned 69 on September 30, arrived in a form-fitting silver knit Brunello Cucinelli dress, pairing it with dangling YSL earrings and Jimmy Choo heels. By her side was her ex-husband and longtime creative partner Peter Marc Jacobson, who looked sharp in a black suit and bow tie.
As photos from the gala spread online, so did Drescher’s refreshingly simple philosophy on getting older. The actress has said that anyone who wants to age well needs to learn how to manage stress, an idea she laid out in a Verywell Health cover interview back in December 2022 that is now making the rounds again.
Drescher explained at the time that stress affects many aspects of health and that people can’t simply let themselves stew in it. She has found that her own immune system reacts poorly to stress, so she makes a point of staying mindful and reminding herself that getting too worked up could make her sick.
Her solutions are refreshingly low-key. When she notices stress building, she forces herself to lie down and decompress, or she heads outside for a walk in the fresh air and takes time to appreciate the trees.
She also stressed the importance of honoring your body and genuinely listening to it rather than dismissing its subtle signals. Her outlook boils down to a simple motto she shared during the same interview: the way you live is reflected in how you feel.
That mindset didn’t come out of nowhere. Drescher was diagnosed with uterine cancer in 2000 at age 44, after spending 2 years seeing various doctors and seeking several second opinions before getting answers.

The experience turned her into a passionate advocate for personal health. She went on to found the Cancer Schmancer organization, which she continues to lead, and has encouraged others to take responsibility for their own care and keep pushing for answers when something feels wrong. Her gala date has a story of his own.
Drescher and Jacobson first met at 15 in a high school theater class, married at 21, and went on to co-create ‘The Nanny’ together in 1993. The pair were married for 21 years before splitting in 1999, and Jacobson came out to Drescher as gay 2 years later. Rather than drifting apart, they’ve grown even closer, and Drescher has said they weren’t meant to be married but were always meant to be something else to each other.

It isn’t the first time this year they’ve stepped out together at the ballet. Back in May, the duo attended the New York City Ballet’s Spring Gala, where Drescher wore a head-to-toe black lace gown, and Mick Jagger served as honorary chair.
Drescher’s schedule shows no sign of slowing down. She has served as president of SAG-AFTRA since 2021, leading the union through its strikes, and appeared alongside Timothée Chalamet in the 2026 film ‘Marty Supreme’.
Fans online were quick to celebrate her latest red carpet moment, with many praising how youthful she looked and calling her Hollywood’s ultimate fashion nanny. For a star who credits walks among the trees and a good lie-down for her well-being, it’s a pretty convincing endorsement of her approach.
What do you think is the best way to age well?
