Daisy Edgar-Jones Gives Regency Romance a Modern Twist in Her Latest ‘Sense and Sensibility’ Press Look
Few press tours this year have generated as much fashion chatter as Daisy Edgar-Jones’ run for ‘Sense and Sensibility’. The actress leads Georgia Oakley’s new take on Jane Austen’s classic as Elinor Dashwood, and her wardrobe has become nearly as talked about as the film itself.
Working with stylist Dani Michelle, Edgar-Jones has leaned into English romanticism without taking it too literally. NYLON praised the approach for honoring Austen’s style codes while avoiding on-the-nose references, even putting her among the top 5 press-tour dressers of the year.
Now she has added another standout look to the collection. Fresh photos from the film’s press shared on social media show Edgar-Jones in a navy midi dress with long sleeves, puffed shoulders, and a softly gathered neckline.
The outfit strikes a balance between period inspiration and modern minimalism. The structured, voluminous shoulders and ruched bodice nod to historical silhouettes, while the deep navy and sleek, fitted skirt keep everything polished.
Her beauty look keeps the mood soft. Edgar-Jones wore her long auburn hair straight with full bangs, framing her face with minimal fuss, an understated approach that lets the dress take center stage.

It’s also a striking contrast to some of her bolder recent choices. Just days ago, she wore a custom Miu Miu corset dress embellished with silver sequins to the film’s Sydney premiere on October 1, keeping her accessories minimal so the gown could shine.
Edgar-Jones has kept fans guessing from the start. She kicked off the tour in London with a cinched Vivienne Westwood dress and hair jewelry at the premiere, then switched gears less than 24 hours later with an ivory military jacket from Alexander McQueen’s spring 2026 collection.
Chloé has been another favorite along the way. She wore a lilac Chloé dress with voluminous sleeves and ribbon details, plus a beige spring 2026 minidress from the label featuring a giant bow at the hip.
The costumes from the film itself seem to have shaped her approach. Edgar-Jones has revealed that being sewn into her corsets, petticoats and dresses on set helped her understand Elinor, which explains why corsetry keeps appearing throughout her press wardrobe.
The movie had its world premiere at London’s Leicester Square on September 15 before opening in the UK on September 25. Directed by Oakley from a screenplay by Diana Reid, it co-stars Esmé Creed-Miles as Marianne Dashwood alongside Caitríona Balfe, Frank Dillane, George MacKay and Fiona Shaw.
Critics have been mostly kind. The film holds a 76% Rotten Tomatoes score from 25 reviews, with The Wrap calling it enchanting and beautiful, while The Telegraph’s Robbie Collin awarded it 5 stars and praised Oakley’s exquisite direction.
Not everyone was won over, though. Empire gave it 3 stars, admiring the ravishing visuals but feeling the central bond between the Dashwood sisters was underserved, while The Times was far harsher in calling it dull.

With the US release arriving on October 16 through Focus Features, Edgar-Jones’ press tour is far from over. That means fans can likely expect even more romantic, unpredictable looks before the film reaches American theaters.

If her latest navy number is any indication, she has no plans to slow down. Each new appearance seems to prove that period-inspired dressing doesn’t have to feel old-fashioned.
