‘Tracker’ Cast (With Pictures) and the Stars Anchoring the CBS Drama’s New Season
The ‘Tracker’ cast has been reshaped more than once since the CBS drama debuted, and the group heading into its fourth season looks quite different from the original ensemble. The show launched with five series regulars and has since settled at four, with Justin Hartley, Fiona Rene, Chris Lee and Cassady McClincy Zhang now carrying the main load. Here is a closer look at each of them and what their roles mean for the show going forward.
The new run arrives with a familiar setup. Hartley is back as Colter Shaw, and the official trailer shows the self described rewardist still on the road trying to find missing people. The opening episode, titled “Safe Harbor,” follows his search for a teenage boy’s missing father, which leads him to a dangerous criminal operation at the Port of Los Angeles.
Justin Hartley

Hartley leads the series as Colter Shaw, a skilled tracker and lone wolf survivalist who crisscrosses the country searching for missing people and collecting rewards. Along the way he works with Reenie and Randy as he looks for people across the country. That working relationship has become the core of the show’s current structure.
Hartley also serves as an executive producer, and the production has moved from Vancouver to Los Angeles for the new run. He said in a statement that he was excited to bring the show to L.A. Showrunner Elwood Reid added that location is a major part of the storytelling and credited a California tax incentive program for making the move possible.
The lead role has also drawn guest appearances from Jensen Ackles, who plays Colter’s brother Russell Shaw. The third season premiere with Ackles drew 12.97 million viewers according to Nielsen’s live plus seven day multiplatform data. That season ranked second among the top broadcast series of the most recent year, behind the Yellowstone spinoff ‘Marshals.’
Fiona Rene

Rene has played attorney Reenie Greene since the first season and is now one of only two original cast members still on the show. Reenie has served as one of Colter’s most trusted allies. She also helps him with his legal troubles.
Reenie branched out on her own during the second season, and Reid told Us Weekly that the following season would keep its focus on her professional issues. He also said the writers planned to build out her life beyond what viewers had already seen. That approach has steadily moved the character from a supporting role toward the center of the ensemble.
Reid has described using Rene more as part of his plan, since building out her world benefits the show. Her law office now includes an assistant named Mel, and Colter works with both Reenie and Randy on his cases. The office has effectively become a second home base for the series.
Chris Lee

Lee joined midway through the second season as Randy, Bobby’s cousin, and quickly became a fan favorite. The character was brought in to provide technical support for Colter after Bobby stepped away. Randy also built a close working relationship with Reenie by sharing office space and working cases directly with her.
Lee began as a recurring player before being promoted to series regular. Us Weekly noted that he and Rene were the only recurring actors left alongside Hartley after the exits that preceded the third season. Since then, Randy has stepped in as Colter’s go to tech expert.
Reid was clear with TVLine that the writers did not replace anyone, noting that Randy “makes Fiona better.” He also said Bobby felt settled in his place, while Randy was still finding his footing. The distinction explains why the two characters feel so different on screen.
In a November episode, Randy told Reenie his short term rental had become a long term rental, confirming he was staying in Denver. Reid has said that moving Randy into the office with Reenie made the show feel more like a family.
Tell us in the comments whether you think Mel’s curiosity about Colter’s work points to a hidden agenda or simply a genuine interest in the job.
