Jennifer Lawrence has never hidden her love for reality television. Over the years, the Oscar winner has spoken openly about her obsession with the Kardashian family, eventually becoming close friends with them, with Kris Jenner even sending her a sweet message for her 30th birthday in 2020.

That affection made it all the more surprising when Lawrence took a playful jab at Kourtney Kardashian last November. While taking a Vanity Fair lie detector test with her ‘Die My Love’ co-star Robert Pattinson, Lawrence was asked whether she still kept up with the family, and she revealed that she found the eldest Kardashian sister more annoying than ever.

Now, nearly a year later, Kourtney has finally addressed the comment. In the Season 8 premiere of ‘The Kardashians’, which dropped on Hulu on October 8, the reality star revealed how she really felt about the dig, and her initial reaction was far from calm.

Speaking with her friend Simon Huck in the episode, Kourtney recalled her mom mentioning that she had recently spoken with Lawrence and Emma Stone, praising them both. Kourtney admitted she responded with an expletive-filled remark about Lawrence.

She also joked that she wanted to slap the actress. Kourtney said she didn’t understand where the criticism was coming from, explaining that she was simply at home breastfeeding and doing nothing else at the time.

It turns out Lawrence reached out after the comments went viral. According to Kourtney, the actress asked Kim Kardashian for her email address and then sent her a message that Kourtney described as very nice.

Lawrence reportedly told her that she felt like one of the sisters. Kourtney admitted that when she rewatched the Vanity Fair clip, she realized the comment wasn’t actually that bad. Still, she revealed she hadn’t yet replied to the email at the time of filming. She even wondered aloud whether she should respond with a joke.

True to form, Kourtney leaned into humor. She joked that next time Lawrence wanted to come over, they could settle things the way she and Kim did, referencing the sisters’ explosive physical fight that aired on ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ in 2020.

Kourtney explained that Lawrence’s comments landed during a difficult moment. She said it was a really sensitive week, as Season 7 had just aired and she felt like everyone was ganging up on her.

That context helps explain why her initial response was so strong. Once the dust settled, she seemed to view the whole situation with far more humor. In the original lie detector segment, Lawrence revealed that Khloé Kardashian was her favorite sister. She said Kourtney drove her nuts because everything had to be an announcement.

Lawrence later addressed the remarks on Amy Poehler’s ‘Good Hang’ podcast in January. She admitted she should probably do less press, joking that her quotes often come out sounding insane in headlines.

The premiere marks the start of a new season of ‘The Kardashians’, with new episodes arriving weekly on Thursdays. Kourtney, now 47, shares Mason, Penelope and Reign with ex Scott Disick, and son Rocky with husband Travis Barker.

Fans have quickly embraced the moment as one of the most entertaining storylines of the new season. Many are now hoping for an on-camera reunion between Kourtney and Lawrence.
