‘Madame Web’ Star Isabela Merced Soaks up the Sun in a Cozy Knit Set and Electric Blue Bag in Instagram Snaps
Isabela Merced has spent more than a decade moving between genres, and her style has evolved right alongside her career. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, the actress and singer got her start in children’s television, leading the Nickelodeon series ‘100 Things to Do Before High School’ before landing the title role in ‘Dora and the Lost City of Gold’.
She later adopted the stage name Isabela Merced in 2019 in memory of her late grandmother. Since then, her résumé has grown to include ‘Alien: Romulus’, the role of Dina in ‘The Last of Us’ and Hawkgirl in James Gunn’s ‘Superman’.
Now, the 25-year-old is giving her roughly 4 million Instagram followers a dose of style inspiration. A set of Instagram photos finds her outdoors under a bright, cloudless blue sky.
In the first shot, she stands on a sunlit rooftop terrace facing the camera, her long dark hair falling loose past her shoulders. She wears a cozy taupe knit set made up of a cropped long-sleeve top and a matching fitted maxi skirt, finished with simple black sandals.
The second photo leans into a more playful pose. Merced rests one arm against a rustic stone wall on a shingled rooftop, letting her hair tumble forward as she glances down toward the camera. The standout accessory is impossible to miss. A structured electric blue handbag adds a bold burst of color against the neutral, earthy knitwear.
The combination feels effortlessly chic, balancing a laid-back, textured outfit with a striking statement piece. It’s a style formula that fits right in with her Instagram, which often doubles as a mood board for her fashion and beauty experiments.
Merced has built a reputation for unexpected fashion choices. At the Oscars in March, she skipped the typical tulle or satin gown in favor of a custom Elisabetta Franchi eco-leather corseted gown with a draped skirt, paired with a diamond and onyx choker and a sharp micro-bob.
That rebellious streak extends to her career, too. She has spoken about how different her experience on ‘Superman’ was compared with previous superhero work, describing how the cast supported each other through long, hot summer days spent in harnesses while filming in Cleveland.
Her biggest project on the horizon is ‘Man of Tomorrow’, the next chapter in Gunn’s Superman saga. The film is set to hit theaters on July 9, 2027, with David Corenswet returning as Superman and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
Merced will reprise her role as Hawkgirl, whom Gunn has confirmed is Kendra Saunders from the comics. She previously joined the growing DC Universe roster through ‘Peacemaker’ season 2, and her recent training updates have already fueled excitement for an expanded role.
The sequel also brings Brainiac to the big screen for the first time, with Lars Eidinger in the role. Rachel Brosnahan is set to return as Lois Lane, making it one of the most anticipated superhero releases on the calendar.
‘Superman’ finished as the top-grossing comic book movie of its year with $611.6 million worldwide. With Hawkgirl set for a bigger spotlight, Merced’s star seems poised to keep rising.
