Amal Clooney has a reputation for turning every public appearance into a fashion moment, and the Albies have become one of her most anticipated red carpets of the year. The human rights barrister co-founded the Clooney Foundation for Justice with her husband George, and together they launched the awards in 2022.

Named after Justice Albie Sachs, a hero of South Africa’s anti-apartheid movement who survived imprisonment, exile and an assassination attempt, the Albies honor people who pursue justice at great personal risk. This year marked the fifth edition of the event, with Graham Norton serving as host.

On Friday, October 9, the couple welcomed guests to London’s Natural History Museum, and Amal once again stole the spotlight. The 48-year-old arrived in a custom gold Gucci gown that instantly became one of the most talked-about looks of the night.

The dress featured an off-the-shoulder, asymmetric neckline and a fitted bodice covered in sequins that followed her silhouette closely. From the hips down, the embellishment gave way to dense, flowing gold fringe that cascaded to the floor and moved with every step.

The sequins also had a subtle ombré effect, shifting from a brighter metallic finish at the bodice and hips to softer gold tones toward the hem. The result was a liquid-gold look with a distinctly old Hollywood, 1920s-inspired feel.

Amal finished the look with carefully chosen details. She wore gold Paris Texas Lidia slingback heels with a pointed toe and carried a crystal-covered Gucci kiss-lock clutch from the house’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection.

Vintage Cartier diamond drop earrings added extra sparkle. She styled her dark brunette hair in soft waves with a classic side part. The gilded gown carried extra meaning. In recent years, Amal has largely stuck to simpler palettes of black, white, and brown for the Albies.

This year’s look, however, was reminiscent of her very first Albies dress, a beaded Versace design. Five years later, the gold-dipped Gucci gown felt like a celebratory nod to where it all began.

George, 65, kept things classic beside her in a black Gucci tuxedo with a bow tie. The couple, who share twins Alexander and Ella, posed arm in arm in front of a dark velvet backdrop.

The evening drew an impressive guest list. Brad Pitt and Ines de Ramon made a rare red carpet appearance together, while Emily Ratajkowski, Felicity Jones, Laura Dern, Isla Fisher, Anna Wintour and Poppy Delevingne were also in attendance.

Gucci served as a major partner for the event, alongside Charlotte Tilbury and Microsoft. Josh Hartnett and Tamsin Egerton also stepped out together for the occasion. Beyond the glamour, the night celebrated those fighting for justice around the world.

Congolese organization Justice Plus and Microsoft’s Brad Smith were also recognized. For Amal, the gown may have grabbed headlines, but the evening’s mission remained front and center.

With 5 years of Albies now behind them, the Clooneys have turned the event into one of London’s most meaningful nights on the social calendar. And if this year’s gold gown is any indication, Amal’s fashion moments there will only keep getting bigger.
