Rumor Claims the DCU’s Batman Could Be Revealed in ‘Man of Tomorrow’
James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe has introduced plenty of heroes so far, but one iconic character remains notably absent. Batman has yet to appear in the new franchise, even though ‘The Brave and the Bold’ was announced back on January 31, 2023, as part of the DCU’s first chapter, ‘Gods and Monsters’.
That film is set to focus on Bruce Wayne and his son, Damian Wayne, drawing inspiration from Grant Morrison’s acclaimed comic run. Andy Muschietti and Christina Hodson, the team behind ‘The Flash’, have been tapped to bring the project to life.
Now, a fresh rumor suggests fans may meet the DCU’s Dark Knight sooner than expected. According to scooper James Mackwl, the actor playing Batman will be revealed in ‘Man of Tomorrow’, the upcoming sequel to ‘Superman’.
The rumor claims Bruce Wayne will appear late in the film, either at the end or in a post-credits scene. That appearance would reportedly set up ‘The Brave and the Bold’ directly. As with all rumors, this should be taken with a grain of salt. DC Studios has not confirmed any details about Batman’s debut or who will play him.

Several names have circulated in recent months. Scooper MyTimeToShine claimed that Tom Brittney, known for ‘Grantchester’, had landed the role, while other rumors have pointed to ‘Landman’ star Mitchell Slaggert.

Film commentator John Campea has also said he believes the DCU’s Batman has been cast. He claimed multiple sources pointed to the same actor but declined to share the name publicly.
Alan Ritchson has long been a fan-favorite pick as well. Gunn has previously said he is a big fan of the actor but stopped short of confirming anything, encouraging fans to wait and see.

Gunn has remained tight-lipped about when Batman will appear. In past comments, he declined to say whether ‘The Brave and the Bold’ would mark the character’s first appearance in the DCU. That ambiguity has fueled speculation that Batman could show up in another project first. A reveal in ‘Man of Tomorrow’ would fit neatly into that possibility.

Safran has also described ‘The Brave and the Bold’ as being in active development. However, some reports have claimed the project was put on hold until the Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount merger was settled.
A DCU Batman reveal could also put pressure on Matt Reeves’ separate franchise. ‘The Batman Part II’, starring Robert Pattinson, sits outside the DCU and is currently set for release on February 18, 2028.
Production on that sequel was recently paused while Reeves deals with a family matter. If the DCU introduces its own Batman first, the studio could find itself juggling 2 versions of the character at once.
‘Man of Tomorrow’ is already shaping up to be a major entry in the franchise. Blue Beetle has been confirmed to appear in the film, adding to the growing roster of DC heroes. Introducing Bruce Wayne would make the sequel an even bigger event. A post-credits reveal would also be a notable move for the DCU, which has rarely relied on that kind of setup.
For now, fans will have to wait for official word from DC Studios. Until then, rumors about Batman’s casting and debut are likely to keep swirling. If the report proves accurate, ‘Man of Tomorrow’ could deliver one of the most anticipated moments in the DCU so far. The arrival of a new Dark Knight would mark a major turning point for the franchise.
