Celebrity cameos have always been part of the fun of big TV revivals, and Fox’s ‘Baywatch’ reboot looks ready to lean into that tradition. The original lifeguard drama aired for 11 seasons from 1989 to 2001 and helped turn Pamela Anderson into a defining face of 1990s television, so the new version has plenty of pop culture history to live up to.

Fox picked up the revival in September 2025 with a 12-episode order, held an open casting call in early 2026, and began production in Los Angeles that spring. This latest take arrives years after Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron tried turning the property into a comedic movie.

Now fans have their first look at one of the show’s most talked-about guest stars. Megan Thee Stallion appears in the full trailer Fox released on October 13, joining the lifeguards on the beach for a surprise moment amid all the rescues.

The rapper’s appearance had been one of the reboot’s worst-kept secrets since the summer. She reportedly plays herself in a guest cameo, and she confirmed her involvement by sharing behind-the-scenes photos from set on Instagram.

According to the Long Beach Post, the “Savage” star was spotted filming near Rosie’s Dog Beach in Long Beach, California, back in June. The scene featured a concert stage, and filming wrapped on Thursday, June 4.

That setup suggests Megan will bring her full performance energy to the episode. It also marks another addition to her growing list of acting credits, which includes an appearance in Marvel’s ‘She-Hulk’.

Her brief moment in the trailer likely hints that celebrity guest spots will be a regular part of the series. That would fit the reboot’s overall approach, which mixes established actors with internet personalities and familiar faces from the original run.

Stephen Amell leads the cast as Hobie Buchannon, the grown-up son of legendary lifeguard Mitch Buchannon, who becomes a Baywatch captain himself. His world is turned upside down when his daughter, Charlie, played by Jessica Belkin, arrives eager to carry on the family legacy.

Shay Mitchell, Brooks Nader, Hassie Harrison, Noah Beck and Thaddeus LaGrone round out the main ensemble. Former gymnast Livvy Dunne makes her acting debut in the recurring role of Grace, an enthusiastic junior lifeguard.

Ashley Moore, Luke Eisner, Nadia Gray, Kylar Miranda and Charlie McElveen also appear in recurring roles. Original series star David Chokachi returns as Cody Madison, who now runs the Shoreline, an unofficial Baywatch bar-and-grill, while still pulling the occasional lifesaving shift.

Beyond Megan’s cameo, the full trailer leans heavily into the franchise’s signature style. Set to the original theme song, the footage features a plane crash, a wildfire near the beach, an exploding lifeguard tower, and plenty of slow-motion running in red swimsuits.

Some critics have already had fun with the tone, with The A.V. Club joking that Amell was born to play a perpetually shirtless leader of young lifeguards. Variety summed up the preview as a mix of attractive leads, big stunts and classic beach drama.

Matt Nix serves as showrunner and executive producer, with McG directing the premiere episode and also serving as an executive producer. The series is co-produced by Fox Entertainment and Fremantle.

The ‘Baywatch’ reboot premieres this January on Fox, with episodes streaming the next day on Hulu. With Megan Thee Stallion already in the mix, viewers will likely be watching closely to see which other famous faces turn up on the beach.
