Few MCU pairings have left as lasting an impression as Paul Bettany’s Vision and Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff. Olsen originated the role in 2015’s ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, and the two went on to anchor ‘WandaVision’, which ended with the newly created White Vision flying away to parts unknown.

Now Vision finally has a story of his own. ‘VisionQuest’ premiered on Disney+ on October 14, concluding the trilogy of shows that began with ‘WandaVision’ and continued with ‘Agatha All Along’, and it pits Vision against James Spader’s Ultron, who appears in the flesh this time.

With the new series launching, Bettany has been asked again and again whether fans will ever see him act alongside Olsen as Wanda and Vision once more. His answer made his feelings clear: he doesn’t believe Vision truly exists without Wanda.

He echoed that sentiment in a separate conversation with Buro 24/7, where he and co-star Ruaridh Mollica discussed how Wanda’s absence continues to shape their characters. Bettany said he finds it hard to imagine Vision without her, underlining how central she remains to the character’s sense of humanity.

Even without Olsen on screen, Wanda looms large over the new story. Mollica, who plays Tommy, described discovering his on-screen mother through Vision’s memories and his love for her, calling the experience beautiful.

Bettany has also reflected on Vision’s long journey through the MCU. At D23 in August, he joked that the character has been an Avenger, a father and a partner to Wanda, made the ultimate sacrifice in ‘Infinity War’ and died several times, which he quipped makes long-term financial planning tricky for an actor.

Whether Wanda appears in ‘VisionQuest’ has been one of the biggest questions surrounding the series. When Entertainment Tonight asked if Olsen might pop up, Bettany said the matter was being kept secret, even from him.

He did tease other surprises and big reveals, along with plenty of Easter eggs and cameos from MCU stars. Some fans online were convinced his hesitant answer hinted that Olsen is coming back.

Olsen, for her part, has suggested she wasn’t involved. Speaking to Inverse, she said she knew nothing about the show until she and Bettany spent time together, adding that he was very proud of it and that it sounded like the final piece of a trifecta with ‘WandaVision’ and ‘Agatha All Along’.

She has also said she would jump at the chance to play Wanda again. That openness has kept fans hopeful that a reunion is only a matter of time.

The timing has only fueled speculation. ‘VisionQuest’ arrives roughly 2 months before ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ hits theaters, and many fans are wondering whether the unresolved Maximoff family story could lead somewhere bigger.

Marvel has not confirmed any plans to bring Olsen back. Still, with Vision exploring his identity and memories, the door to a long-awaited reunion feels more open than ever. Part of what made ‘WandaVision’ so beloved was the emotional core between its 2 leads.

Bettany’s insistence that Vision is inseparable from Wanda shows how deeply he still connects to that partnership. For fans, his words are both bittersweet and encouraging. Wanda may not be front and center in ‘VisionQuest’, but her influence clearly runs through every part of Vision’s story.

Do you think Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda will reunite with Paul Bettany’s Vision in the MCU?
