Print magazines aimed at teens have been fading for years, but W Magazine is betting there’s still an audience for them. This fall, the publication introduced WYouth, a new teen-focused sister title, and its first big celebration in Los Angeles came with a very personal centerpiece courtesy of Hailey Bieber.

WYouth, pronounced “double youth,” was announced in April and published its debut print issue on September 15. It’s led by Ava Nirui, former creative director of Heaven by Marc Jacobs, alongside W editor-in-chief Sara Moonves, with Sofia Coppola and her daughter Cosima serving as contributing editors.

Hailey co-hosted the magazine’s launch party in West Hollywood this week, and one photo op stole the show. She posed in front of a giant poster of herself kissing her husband, Justin Bieber, a blown-up version of the couple’s WYouth cover with their names written across it in handwriting.

The image behind Hailey isn’t just a glamorous backdrop. Hailey and Justin photographed the WYouth cover themselves on a film camera, giving the shoot a casual, intimate feel that fits the magazine’s nostalgic spirit.

The cover declares the pair “more in love than ever,” and a multi-page spread inside the issue continues the story. W’s editor’s letter described the couple as the perfect choice for the debut cover. Seeing that image recreated at poster scale made for a memorable moment. Hailey leaned into it, posing in front of the oversized shot as guests snapped photos.

For the event, Hailey wore a sequined metallic jacket in shades of silver, green, red, and gold, styled open over a pair of low-rise jeans. She finished the look with soft waves, dewy makeup and, in some photos, dark sunglasses and black heels.

The look matched the youthful, slightly rebellious energy WYouth is aiming for. Among the guests photographed with her was Romy Mars. Nirui has said the idea is to bring back the spirit of the teen magazines she grew up with, updated for a new generation. WYouth publishes twice a year in print, with digital stories in between on W’s website.

The format is designed with its audience in mind. Each issue is half the size of a regular W, small enough to fit in a backpack, and draws on W’s archives to introduce younger readers to the magazine’s legacy.

The first issue mixed fashion spreads with horoscopes, a quiz about toxic best friends, and interviews with Gen Z stars like Clairo. It’s a deliberate throwback to the classic teen magazine formula. The timing is notable. WYouth arrived less than a year after Teen Vogue was folded into Vogue in November 2025, and years after Seventeen ended its print issues.

W has argued that print still resonates with younger readers, citing a poll in which 71% of Gen Z said they see print magazines as more authentic than digital ones. With the Biebers on the cover and a buzzy launch party behind it, the magazine is clearly hoping to make print feel exciting again.

Not everyone was won over by the cover. Some social media users questioned whether such an intimate couple shot was the right fit for a youth-focused title, while others defended it as a fitting, personal debut.

Either way, the conversation shows the cover did its job of getting people talking. For a brand-new publication trying to stand out, that kind of attention is hard to buy. The Biebers, who married in 2018, have long shared glimpses of their relationship publicly. This time, they turned one of those moments into the launch image for an entirely new magazine.

What do you think of Hailey and Justin Bieber’s intimate photo being featured on WYouth’s debut cover?
