Livvy Dunne and Brooks Nader Hit the Beach as Fox’s ‘Baywatch’ Reboot Trailer Arrives

The red swimsuits are coming back to primetime. Fox’s ‘Baywatch’ reboot is one of the network’s most talked-about new series, a modern revival of the lifeguard drama that turned slow-motion beach runs into a pop culture staple.

The original show debuted on NBC in 1989 and then moved into syndication, where it became one of the most-watched series in the world. It helped launch the careers of Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, and Yasmine Bleeth, and it later spawned the spinoff ‘Baywatch Nights’ and a 2017 film starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.

Now the revival’s buzz is building online. After Fox released the official trailer, Maxim spotlighted its cover stars Livvy Dunne and Brooks Nader in a post about the new footage. Both women were Maxim cover models in 2025, and the photos in the magazine’s post appear to be portraits rather than stills from the series.

Fox released the full trailer on October 13, and it runs a little over 3 minutes. It opens with a dramatic rescue: a plane strikes 2 parasailing girls, and Stephen Amell’s Hobie Buchannon leads the team into the water.

Hobie is now a Baywatch captain following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Mitch. In the trailer, he reminds his crew that only the best of the best make the cut as Baywatch lifeguards.

His life changes when Charlie Vale, played by Jessica Belkin, turns up as the daughter he never knew he had. She insists she isn’t looking for money or a father, only a job, and Hobie has to weigh wanting a relationship with her against the dangers of lifeguarding.

Maxim’s post called the trailer the first footage from the reboot, but fans have actually seen the cast in action before. TMZ reported back in May that an earlier teaser showed Nader on the dock in the franchise’s iconic red one-piece, with Dunne suiting up in matching lifeguard gear.

Earlier in October, Fox also rolled out character teasers pairing up the lead cast members. The new trailer is still the most substantial look at the show so far. For Dunne, the series marks a major career pivot. The former LSU gymnast and content creator joined the cast in a recurring role as Grace, described as a highly enthusiastic junior lifeguard, and it is her first scripted acting job.

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, which put Dunne on its 2025 cover, noted that she had talked about going to auditions and taking acting lessons before she landed the part. She was also spotted alongside Nader during filming on Venice Beach earlier this year.

Nader is a series regular in the role of Selene, described as the sharp-tongued captain of the Zuma Beach lifeguards. TMZ reported that sources say talk of a breakout bombshell came up often on set, though the outlet’s claims of a friendly rivalry between Nader and Dunne remain unconfirmed.

Megan Thee Stallion also makes a cameo in the trailer, although her role hasn’t been revealed. The main cast also includes Shay Mitchell as Trina, Hassie Harrison as Nat, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, and Noah Beck as Luke. The trailer hints at romances between Charlie and Luke and between Trina and Brad.

Longtime fans have plenty of nostalgia to look forward to as well. David Chokachi returns as Cody Madison in a recurring role, while Erika Eleniak, Michael Bergin and Kelly Packard are reprising their original characters as guest stars.

‘Burn Notice’ creator Matt Nix is showrunner and executive producer, and McG is directing. Original series creators Michael Berk, Greg Bonann and Doug Schwartz are executive producers, alongside Dante Di Loreto and Mike Horowitz, with Fox Entertainment and Fremantle producing. The 12-episode series premieres on Fox in January, and with the trailer now out, the countdown to the beach is officially on.
