Hollywood has a long tradition of rom-com co-stars whose on-screen chemistry spills into speculation. When the film is a romantic comedy about a workplace flirtation, the temptation to read between the lines is even stronger. That’s exactly what has happened with Netflix’s ‘Office Romance’ and its two leads.

The movie stars Jennifer Lopez as Jackie Cruz, the president and CEO of an airline, and Brett Goldstein as Daniel Blanchflower, a lawyer who lands a new job working for her. Goldstein also produced the film and co-wrote it with Joe Kelly, who was part of the ‘Ted Lasso’ writing team, reportedly with Lopez in mind for the lead. ‘Office Romance’ premiered on Netflix on June 5.

Now Page Six reports that the two have taken their chemistry off screen. A source told the outlet that Lopez and Goldstein are dating, but that things are casual. The tweet announcing the report went viral quickly, and neither star has publicly confirmed it.

The latest chapter follows a talent manager’s party in Los Angeles on October 16. According to Page Six, Lopez entered with her longtime manager, Benny Medina, but left with Goldstein. Other outlets report that the pair arrived and left in the same car while walking into the event separately. Deuxmoi had also posted about the pair attending the same party, noting they appeared to avoid being photographed together.

Reps for Lopez and Goldstein did not return requests for comment. That leaves the story resting on an unnamed source and a pair of sightings, which is worth keeping in mind before treating it as confirmed.

Speculation around the pair goes back to early 2025, when they were seen together at the Broadway play ‘Oh, Mary!’ in New York. Page Six reported earlier this year that they kept things professional on set, though the chemistry was undeniable. Another source claimed they dated for a while after filming wrapped, but that things fizzled before the press tour.

Both stars have pushed back publicly. When Savannah Guthrie asked them directly about it on ‘Today’ on June 2, Lopez said they weren’t dating, and Goldstein agreed. She added that people always try to pair her with whoever she’s working with, a point that Goldstein joked came from standing so close to her. Lopez also hasn’t been shy about praising her co-star, having called him her best on-screen kiss when speaking with Andy Cohen.

Not everyone has been convinced by the rumors. During the press tour, some commentators and industry sources argued that the romance buzz was a promotional strategy, a Hollywood showmance designed to keep ‘Office Romance’ in the headlines. The same pattern has played out with other rom-com and comedy co-stars in the past.

The newest report complicates that theory, since the movie has been out for months. It describes a relationship that’s relaxed and low-key rather than a publicity push. It also arrives after Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck in August 2024, a point many outlets mention when discussing her recent personal life.

For now, the facts are limited. Two co-stars have been seen leaving a party together, an anonymous source says they’re seeing each other casually, and neither side has said anything new on the record. Unless one of them speaks up, the story will remain a mix of confirmed sightings and unconfirmed claims.

Do you think Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein are genuinely dating?
