Chris Pratt Confirms Star-Lord’s MCU Comeback: “You’ll See Star-Lord Again”
Few Marvel promises have lingered as long as the one tucked into the post-credits tag of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’. It has been more than 3 years since Pratt seemingly said goodbye to the franchise, and the promised comeback still hasn’t materialized. The question of Star-Lord’s return to the MCU has hung over fans ever since.
The story left him in a very specific place. Peter headed back to Earth to find his grandfather, while Rocket took over as the Guardians’ team leader. That open ending has fueled years of speculation about where the character would resurface.
Pratt has been asked about it repeatedly, and he has long been cagey. On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’, he said only that Marvel would make good on its promise, and he later told Collider he couldn’t say where fans would see Star-Lord again. This time, he offered more.
Pratt has now said Marvel is moving beyond wishful thinking. Speaking to The Playlist‘s Mike DeAngelo on The Bingeworthy podcast, the actor revealed that Marvel has discussed Star-Lord’s comeback and has already taken concrete steps to make it happen. He added, “You’ll see Star-Lord again, which is very exciting,” while declining to say when.
Pratt made the comments while promoting ‘The Terminal List’ Season 2, which debuted on Prime Video on October 21. He credited his relationship with Kevin Feige and Lou D’Esposito for the ongoing conversations. Marvel Studios declined to comment.
That silence leaves plenty of room for guesswork. Pratt has played Star-Lord across 6 films, including ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’. A return would end a long absence for one of the franchise’s most recognizable faces.
The obvious question is where he fits in. Pratt has not been announced for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, which hits theaters in December, though directors Joe and Anthony Russo have teased more returning stars. Dark Horizons notes that neither Pratt nor the other Guardians are expected in that film, and that an appearance in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ looks like a good bet.

That theory has some rumor behind it. Well-known scooper MyTimeToShineHello previously posted that Star-Lord will return in ‘Secret Wars’. Marvel has not confirmed it, and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ is slated for 2027.
Pratt himself has fueled the fire. Earlier this year, he said he pitched Marvel a personal vision for Star-Lord’s return, and he confirmed that he had pitched it to Feige. Fan speculation has centered on a ‘Logan’-style standalone story dealing with Quill’s breakup with Gamora and its consequences.

Reaction online was swift. In replies to posts about Pratt’s comments, many fans are specifically suggesting he will be back in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. The post that spread the news caught the attention of many fans, and one reply bluntly declared he is 100% in ‘Secret Wars’.
For now, Pratt’s message is clear even without a date. Star-Lord isn’t done with the MCU, and for fans who have waited since the end of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’, that is welcome news.
When do you think Star-Lord will make his next appearance in the MCU?
