This week’s ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ recap centers on a complication that turns a painful chapter for Simone into a genuine emergency. The episode, titled “It’s All Wrong, but It’s All Right,” aired Thursday on ABC and is available on Hulu the next day. Simone returns to work before she is ready, and it soon becomes clear that something is wrong.

The ending of this ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ episode ties together Simone’s recovery, Jo’s doubts about her future and Lucas’s decision to leave Amelia’s house. Here is a clear breakdown of what happened and where each storyline now stands.

Simone’s Molar Pregnancy Explained

Simone had decided to terminate her pregnancy the week before, and she insists her cramping is a normal side effect until she nearly passes out at work. Wes and Jules bring her into a private room, where Jules performs an ultrasound even though she admits she doesn’t speak OB.

Jo, who is at the hospital only to confirm that she is quitting, helps read the scan and recognizes a snowstorm sign, which means the pregnancy was never viable. Hidden Remote describes it as a rare condition that mimics pregnancy and notes that Simone will need a D&C. Simone had asked Jules not to involve anyone else, and she asks Jo to perform the procedure because she is comfortable with her.

A medical abortion only targets actual pathways to pregnancy, so Simone needs an additional procedure immediately. When the anesthesia mask goes on, Simone panics, remembering that her mother died under anesthesia while giving birth to her at this same hospital. Jo shifts the plan to a local anesthetic so that Simone does not have to be fully put under.

The procedure goes smoothly, and Simone is expected to be discharged in the morning. She wakes to find Wes asleep in the chair beside her bed. TVLine playfully wondered whether Wes has become a walking green flag, and the scene gives the episode a hopeful close for Simone.

Jo Quitting Grey Sloan and the Doubts That Follow

Jules runs into Jo while Jo is on her way to turn in her badge, and that chance meeting pulls her back into medicine. The official description frames the episode as Jo being pulled from motherhood back into the OR.

Despite having quit, Jo agrees to scrub in on a procedure she has performed many times before. She walks Simone through the risks and assures her that she is not worried.

The surgery is a success, but it leaves Jo with plenty to think about. She knows she is skilled, believes the field needs good doctors and loves what she does, yet she cannot practice without reliving something that almost killed her. She does not know what to do, but the day clearly makes it harder to simply walk away.

TVLine closes its recap by asking whether Jo will stick by her decision to quit. The episode deliberately leaves that question open, which suggests her exit may not be as settled as the earlier scenes implied.

Blue’s Return and Richard’s Resistance

Richard makes it clear that he will not allow Blue to work with him in the OR. Blue is given busy work, and he is sent to check on a VIP patient who keeps him running errands and asks him to mix a drink.

The situation changes when the patient’s insides suddenly show up on the outside. Richard does not answer the call, so Seth instructs Blue to prep the patient for surgery and pushes him to assist in the OR. James Wolk appears in the episode as Seth Norton.

Richard angrily interrupts the surgery and insists that Blue leave immediately, but Seth is sympathetic to Blue’s situation. Seth later invites Blue to assist on a surgery the next day, much to Richard’s surprise. Blue then finds the courage to add his name to the OR schedule board in front of his disapproving boss.

Lucas Moving Out of Amelia’s House and Other Storylines

Lucas begins looking into subspecialty openings and teams up with Amelia to treat a Dolly Parton impersonator who arrives in the emergency room. Amelia is surprised to learn that he is applying to her lab, and the pair grow tense as she hovers over his work. When a complication arises, Amelia steps in to finish the procedure.

Lucas points out that his way is different from hers, which does not make it wrong, and that he is not Amelia or Derek. Amelia then admits she was once the underdog and invites him to work in her lab even if neurosurgery is not his path. He says he will think about it, but he also tells her he is moving out.

Elsewhere, Link leads an experimental leg surgery, and the episode ends with him making a secret phone call to request a refill of his pain medication. Jules and Winston share an uncomfortable elevator ride, and Bailey learns that Winston’s new scheduling app is no replacement for her spreadsheet.

Simone’s scare, Jo’s hesitation and Link’s quiet dependency all point toward consequences that will carry into the next episode. If Jo’s choice to stay awake with Simone through that procedure reminded her why she became a doctor, does she hand back her badge for good, or is this the moment she returns to Grey Sloan?
